This is starting to resemble 1980's New York type problems on public transit.

As Toronto hurtles towards an uncertain future at an alarming pace, one thing is for certain: things are getting pretty darn crowded. Theories abound as to why this might be bad news - from the "urban entropy" theory, which posits that as cities grow and evolve, they become increasingly disordered and chaotic, leading to a decline in the quality of life for residents, to the "overcrowding" theory, which suggests that high population density can lead to a host of negative outcomes such as increased crime, decreased access to services and amenities, and a general sense of being squished like a grape.

But before we all start building our own personal panic rooms, it's worth remembering that the future is, by its very nature, uncertain. It's possible that Toronto will somehow sidestep the pitfalls of urban overcrowding and become a shining beacon of efficiency, cleanliness and happiness. Or, you know, not. But one thing is for sure, it's going to be an interesting ride. So sit tight, hold on to your hats, and remember to keep your towel with you at all times, because you never know when you might need to dry off after a surprise rainstorm of troubles. And don't get me started on the world cup ... Crime central!

Something that I fear about Toronto is the public transportation system, which seems to be limited to cope with the demand of more and more people.

A bad quality in transportation will lead to more chaos.

For the size of the city, the coverage of subway is very limited. And the development of new lines takes forever.

In my days of taking public transit buses/Go Train quite often I'd see the transit 'cops' checking for proof of payment. Guess that doesn't happen as frequently now which is why these punks think they can get away with it.

They do this periodically, on both buses are streetcars, usually during peak hours. It wouldn't surprise me if it's done right near the end of a month, when people receiving goverment cheques have often spent all of their money, and some of the cops might not have made their monthly arrest quota.

With the hourly wage for multiple officers, booking, paperwork and the overtime for a court appearance, it probably costs the city about $600 for the possibility of gaining a $50 fine and court costs in the event of conviction.

So many things cops have to get control of. But when they do, judges give a slap on the wrist and everything repeats over and over.
1.Build more jails.
2. Judges have to get elected and answer to the public they serve.
3. Mandatory sentencing.
4. Put the pieces of shit to work so we can mitigate the cost of incarceration.
Tbh, anybody can make better license plates than what Ontario has been handing out lately!

TPS just got an extra 46 million on top of their billion dollar budget. WTF are they doing with the money if they aren’t protecting the public?

So between increased homeless population, increased economic uncertainty, decreased civility due to the lockdowns, kids not having social training for a few years, social media, and probably more shit, this is the result.

And for the short term it won't get better.

New York shows this is a failure.

I frequented NYC in the 1990's. It was bad but not as bad as Toronto is now. Plus, we had Charles Bronson taking care of the bad guys.

As I said before, pepper spray needs to be legalized ASAP in Canada.
It might not stop all attacks, but if it stops a percentage of them it'll be worth it
