Then the Republicans get their ass handed to them in the next election as long as the Dems run someone who is somewhat moderate...That's Shapiro in my opinion. שָׁלוֹם.
I think that's a big if as far as Democrats running a moderate. The progressive wing of the party has become extremely more vocal and demanding within the party. With that strong pull to the left, it's not easy for the party to move to the center. If you recall the Clinton-Gore moderation, the Republicans won three elections in a row fairly handily before that. I'd say the country is a little more liberal than 1992 and the Democratic party has moved much further left from that center point. (Vance could be deemed too conservative, but I'm not totally sure of his personal policy alignment.)

I like Shapiro, but I don't see him doing well in many state primaries. Even if he does well in early primaries, the crowd will winnow down to him and a candidate the left prefers. Perhaps that's Newsom. The advantage Newsom has is he can talk like a moderate. Republicans would have to run an onslaught of commercials under a theme of this is California.

It would be healthy if a Shapiro, Whitmer or a Moore emerged, but I don't think it will be easy. Whitmer is more intriguing in my opinion because she is a woman from a purple state.

Anyway, as always the economy will play a very important part in the election. There is always the economic cycle which many people confuse or choose to portray as a controllable event when convenient. Just as important are structural economic developments like AI. If it causes large job disruption, it will be easy to pin that on Republicans. If that's the case, it will be a headache during the economic transformation for both parties as well as all industrialized countries. Canada will not be spared.

I say that specifically about Canada because I think some here are holding fantastical ideas of some progressive revolution in the U.S. If I was early on in my career, I would choose the U.S. over all the other industrialized countries during an economic transformation.

Don't count out Mark Kelly.
Not sure Kelly is dynamic enough.
Democratic leadership really likes military resumes because they think it attracts some right of center voters. We have 16 million military veterans.
However, progressive voters don't really care and in fact might view a military background as a disqualifier.

This is not a novel thought. Governors do things. Senators not so much. Running a state sharpens political skills.

This may be the real issue, war with Iran will make it too obvious.

Not me...americans...and i'm sure you want AOC to be president...you want the destruction of the west... and that's what she is...
AOC will be the destruction of the west?
OMG! You are entertaingly out of it.

You must be so proud of the war on Venezuela, the Gaza genocide, the blockade on Cuba, bombing Somalia, killing fisherman in the Caribbean and the upcoming war on Iran. Is that the glory of the west you were hoping for?

Hilary was the Dems best chance for a female president. The bar keeps getting lower when AOC can make Kamala Harris look competent.
You don't think trump lowered the bar by making lying, felony, rape, trafficking, fraud or racism acceptable?
amazing

I'll try to explain it to you again.
If you're working for Mossad and looking to blackmail someone to screw them and a country over it helps if you hate them.
It also helps if the mark thinks you are best friends and can supply him with endless children to rape.
So you can play friend, send him kids to rape while secretly video taping it and then brag to the bosses about how stupid and shitty he was.

Here's the 64K question (that the NY Times, CNN and the #MeToo'ers will never address):
How many of the women whose faces were redacted ... were consenting adults on the hu$tle fully aware of what they were signing up for and getting themselves into (i.e. prostituting themselves to middle aged millionaires and billionaires)?
And if that be the case .... should their faces have been redacted?
Why should the identities of women on the hustle (catering to millionaires and billionaires) ... be protected?
This (very-real) possibility ... will never be reported on by the NY Times or CNN!

No one wants to consider that or discuss it. 🤷‍♂️

The $1 million question is why did the DOJ redact the names of the people raping, torturing, killing and eating children while exposing the names of victims?
