Which former Buffalo Bills player was the first Black Quarterback to start a professional Football game?

James Harris
Nope.

Harris played for the Buffalo Bills, and he is the first Black Quarterback to start a season opening game, (1969), and a playoff game, (1974), but former Bills' All-Pro Wide Receiver Marlin Briscoe started five games in the AFL for the 1968 Denver Broncos.

Who am I?

I am a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. I finished 3rd in Heisman Trophy voting as a Junior, 2nd as a Senior, and I was a unanimous All-American in each of those seasons.

I played in the NFL for 12 seasons, for two teams. I was selected to five Pro Bowl teams, and I was a member of one Super Bowl championship team.

I had three consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons, and 960 rushing yards in 12 games of the following season.

In my 11th Pro season, I led the NFL in punt return yardage.

During my NFL career, I scored 47 Touchdowns, (27 rushing, 18 receiving, 1 punt return, 1 kickoff return), and I threw 6 Touchdown passes.

During my career, I won ABC's Superstars, an all-around sports competition that pitted elite athletes from different sports against one another in a series of athletic events resembling a decathlon.

Eight years after my retirement, I won the NFL Challenge of Champions episode of American Gladiators.

I am largely responsible for an NFL rule change.

Who am I?

As a College Junior, I finished second in Heisman Trophy voting. I was encouraged by my coach to enter the NFL Draft after that season. " This is the first time I have told anybody who has not graduated that I felt they ought to leave.", the coach was quoted as saying.

I was the first overall selection in the following year's NFL Draft. I signed a seven-year, $19.2 million deal which included a $7.125 million signing bonus, which at the time was an NFL record contract for a rookie.

On my third carry of my first preseason game, I tore a knee ligament, and missed the entire season. I also missed two other complete seasons because of injuries to parts of my body above the waist. I played in only 59 games, (14 starts), in seven NFL seasons during a ten year span, and I rushed for more yards in my final College season than I did in my entire NFL career.

Two Heisman Trophy winners not named Bo Jackson played professionally in a different 'Big 4' North American team sport, (ie: NHL, NBA or MLB).

Name either or both.
