Great night for the Democrats. 5 for 5 night.

Abigail Spanberger wins the Virginia Governor, Jay Jones wins the Virginia Attorney General, Ghazala Hashmi wins the Virginia Lt. Governor, Mikie Sherrill wins the New Jersey Governor. Zohran Mamdani wins NYC mayor.

Is this a referendum on Trump for the midterms?

I don't think so. These Republicans are not Trump. Some have opposed him previously.

Insane that Jay Jones won. Right-wingers will remember that the left wants to kill their kids.

Oh ya, that's right, Trump has 2026 rigged and 2028 he's guaranteed another term by his Supreme Court. I forgot America is a dictatorship.

The midterms are going to win back the House and the Senate. Trump, if old age hasn't taken him out, will be impeached and the stage will be set up for Gavin 2028. This is what my crystal ball is telling me.

@richaceg would you like me to ask my crystal ball what it sees about your future?

This is a travesty, a travesty I tell ya.

Caroline Levitt proclaimed The King of Kings America's Greatest President. Tim Cook supplicated himself, ass up knees to chest, at his feet - how can he allow this to happen? He made the promise that he would "fix things" to make elections redundant. Instead the earthworms rise up from the filth, is he actually a Supreme Being or is he full of methane?

...with a blast of Trump's nostrils...I could have great fun with the yentas at 0:18.

Just goes to show you how stupid the voters are. Its bad enough that New Yorkers voted in a rabid socialist who will drive money out of the city, but even worse Virginians voted in an AG who is a vile POS.

Hard to say but I think if things go the way they are in the US, and I think it will get worse, even if it is not the mid terms, 2028 will not go well for the Republicans when Trump steps down and they are left without a leader with his level of cult status.

I would have to agree with you, but on that...who do you think is the democrat leader gonna be? AOC?

My take is that the democrat base is fired up. And, the GOP didn't mobilize...either because of apathy or just pissed at the way the US is being run. It is very much a referendum on Trump, and the first warning sign to his administration that the gravy train of his bullshit being rubber stamped by an ineffective congress will end in 12 months.

But Trump knows this already. Why else would he ask Texas to redistrict the state for the 2026 mid-term elections to give him (hopefully) more seats? Because he knows he cannot win on his record. I am well aware that things can change dramatically within the next year. But Trump will likely have triggered a recession by then. And he continues to do things that are unpopular for the average person not in the cult. And it appears that the cult's numbers are shrinking.

I don't know if Newsome will become the challenger in 2028, but he is good. He is smart, a great communicator and someone who I think can play the game in a way Trump hasn't faced before. But, a lot can happen between now and election day.

Now, as for Mamdani, I think he is tapping into a populous that is sick of seeing the rich become richer by basically standing on the necks of everybody else. They see rent prices rising, which doesn't really hurt the mega rich. And, for anyone saying the wealthy will leave...please. NYC is the place to be. It has the nightlife, the restaurants, the cultural stuff, sports and theatre. It is the financial hub, where deals are made and fortunes are won or lost. Where else would they go? Texas? Florida? lol. Maybe for the winter...

I think Mamdani tapped into a movement that could wipe out MAGA, if they follow. That'll show in the AOC vs Newsom sides of the party.
I don't think other leaders can tap into this.

Let's not forget, Trump's fast approaching 80. He could literally have a heart attack or stroke at any time. He could fall down the stairs of Air Force One and break his hip. He would be out of the White House much sooner than expected. We really don't know the state of his health, both mentally or physically. Now, as much as I hate that Dorito-skinned asswipe, I do not wish that to happen. But the reality is, he's fucking old, and him making it to 2028 is not guaranteed. When he eventually passes,....we don't know who will inherit MAGA, nor if they will have the same sway that Trump did. I mean, I don't think Vance has, as the kids say, the rizz to pull it off.

I sort of think back to when Brian Mulroney stepped down as PM before the 1993 election, making Kim Campbell Canada's first female PM (for six weeks). She basically inherited a flaming bag of shit that resulted in the PC party being devastated by the Liberals...and taking the blame for the massive defeat. I can totally see Trump doing the same thing to an extent. I mean, I have a hard time seeing him step down, regardless of his health or mental state...But, I can totally see him not running in 2028, even if his minions found a way around the 22nd amendment. He's basically going to leave the proverbial flaming bag of shit for whomever succeeds him...
