The company announced in late 2023 that it would retool the plant for Jeep Compass production. But in February, shortly after US President Donald Trump threatened tariffs against foreign autos, Stellantis paused that work, while providing assurances that it still planned to bring the factory online.

Ontario Premier Doug Ford said Wednesday he spoke with the automaker to emphasize his “disappointment” with its plan. The provincial government had promised as much as C$132 million ($94 million) to help the plant.

“No provincial funding has flowed to Stellantis for its Brampton project. Stellantis has a duty to live up to their promise to Brampton autoworkers and continue with their allocation in Brampton,” Ford said in a social media post.

those tariffs could've been avoided...blame DoFo, Trudeau for not avoiding it...If you walk in Canadian Tire and the customer service fights with you...would you remain a customer?

I think it first should be determined the accuracy of these messages. Second nobody in the Trump administration is on record as saying or condoning anything derogatory in these chats. A few yahoos at local party political level means squat.

These messages are 100% true. I clearly posted a link where a couple of them have not been laid off. Otherwise why would they get rid of them?
Others may or may not go. But then why is Vance downplaying the propensity of these messages that have been going back and forth among these bunch of racist Neo-Nazi sympathizers for months? What was shared among them is anything but squat!!
