Saw him and his sons walking in the Eaton Center the year Montoyo was fired and he was named manager, followed them into the Blue Jays Store, I yelled out his name he turned and I gave him a thumbs up. Game 4 was a masterpiece of game calling by El Gran Capitan. He had to manage eight different pitchers, he did it with the aplomb of an auteur film director. Has anyone noticed his pitch calls are never waived off by whomever is on the mound. Not even a psycho like Scherzer questions his authority. I've been a baseball fan since my teens, I haven't seen that level of pitcher management since Rick Dempsey.
