The tide is turning, the left will slowly dissolve into insignificance………….

Turning Point USA has seen a massive surge in inquiries for new college chapters as the organization works to advance Charlie Kirk's vision following his assassination last week.

Andrew Kolvet, executive producer of "The Charlie Kirk Show," said that Turning Point USA (TPUSA) has received more than 37,000 inquiries from people wanting to start new campus chapters. Kolvet said that TPUSA currently has 900 official college chapters and approximately 1,200 high school chapters.

absolutely!

but now we come to the real issue

we are so divided as people, calling each other names, Nazis and idiots

and it seems that every government and MSM are intentionally stoking these emotions in us

how can we ever reconcile these deference among us?

is it possible

most of us have been posting here for years, some more than others :)

and we never convince anyone of anything

and it's getting worse all the time

I would like to hear if anyone has any ideas where we can start to change for better?
Hmm, good in principle but how long can you keep it up?

How about a list of things that we could agree on?
Killing other people is wrong.
The rule of law should be respected.
Humans deserve equal human rights.
Politicians should also respect the law.

Is that too extreme a starting point?
How many qualifications would you need to put on each of those?

Interesting.
You know what I think Juan?
I think when people sink into their podcast-worlds, they often get a cartoon image of "the other," painted to look stupid and dangerous. In other words, a "straw man". Thus the pod casters create this "Globetrotters v Washington Generals" situation where th3y demolish and mock "the other" so the listeners come away angry at "those fools" and feeling empowered. Yet, there are legitimate discussion points that can advance our knowledge from all sides. And i think once people feel they are heard, and respected, then they start to consider that it is possible for someone not of their pov to make a good point now and then.
I've never known anyone who is called an "idiot" by someone else to change his or her mind. In fact, it tends to do the opposite. Thus, start with common ground. We all want to be safe from crime. We all want to have enough to eat. We all wish to be able to speak our minds without losing our jobs or freedom.
Then go from there.
It is well and good to say that we need to talk and hear each other, which I agree with.
But bottomline is that this is an issue of values and there are certain values or positions that you just cannot debate or discuss.
As Noam Chomsky said: "By accepting the presumption of legitimacy of debate on certain issues, one has already lost one’s humanity.".
Case in point, how do you "hear and listen" to someone who does not want to see certain immigrants in their country because of their race, ethnicity, culture or religion? That is a deep rooted bias that cannot be debated.
Debates usually need a baseline (such as the ones you highlighted) but such a baseline can only be established with the debaters who are honest about their intentions.
With a MAGA voter whose primary issues are race, gender and sexual orientation, such deep rooted biases cannot be resolved even if they superficially agree to the baselines you proposed.
Anyway, I am not the one with solutions. But, I read this article recently on defeating populism.
Am sure one could poke holes in it but felt it fits what you are discussing:

I see the post subject has changed. What's new about the shooter? (I have not read much of the post to be honest, it's going way too fast).

there is very simple answer to that

nobody is saying that we do not want certain immigrants because of their race, ethnicity, culture or religion

we do not want "useless tits" in our country

everybody else is welcome

in all your education you must have missed the class that there are only 2 kinds of people in the world

useful and useless

we only want the useful
That's you.
But there are a wide gamut of opinions on that amongst the MAGA cohort many of which are impossible to come to a common ground on.
Which is what I was trying to highlight.

I don't know Frank, but God knows that I'm trying now :)

I think that these points are valid and that most of agree on

the problem is how do we deal with issues that we do not agree on

can we still be civil and debate them or

is it like Kautilya posted above

some issues can not be debated?
Sure, some issues can't be debated.
For instance 'never again', in my world support of genocide is a red line and when you cross that you are in the same group as nazis.
That doesn't seem like it should be a hard one, but there is a genocide that is still going on.

Other ones should be easy.
Free speech and the freedom to protest about issues in a democracy?

All this Charlie Kirk talk made me watch a lot more of his stuff.
12:40 on MAGA being a cult, the girl didn't stand a chance, especially when the part about her family comes up near the end. lol
