Crime has been down quite a bit. This is a flex, nothing more, nothing less. Get used to paramilitary on the street. Except maybe prompted because big balls got jumped. Empathy is only for those you know, seems to be the conservative mantra. Hate drug addicts until your kid becomes one. Hate gays until your daughter comes out.
However, DC should judo this and say "thanks - we"re going to deploy your guys to secure places x, y, and z, and then that frees up our officers who know the streets to then focus on a, b, and c." This could be a smart security move, and, if Bondi objects, then she looks like the idiot and/or reveals starkly that this is not about security but about authoritarian control. Deprives Trump of the theater he is also hoping for.
The hard core liberals always fall for the bait. For example they get all crazy to protest or silence Ben Shapiro etc but end up looking crazy and being marketing aids for Shapiro. They don't realize they're overreaction is exactly what Shapiro etc want.

I suppose the question is, if this is about city safety, why no deployment to Memphis, St. Louis, New Orleans.....

But somehow Blue State cities have problems.

Little Rock Arkansas has the highest murder rate of any State Capital. The King of Kings isn't worried, Sexy Huka is on the job.

Macho MAGA wants Washington DC ethnically cleansed, they want to go full Nazi on people of colour.

Why is George Santos in jail?

Trump however stated he wanted to send them into NYC, Chicago and Baltimore.

Right?
Said he was thinking about it..But that's not the point.

You can't have your capital city that crime ridden.

Polling of the citizens has show that 91% said it was their number one concern.

In the video I put up here it was mentioned that tourism has taken a big hit...No one feels safe there.

Crime in DC was at its lowest level in 30 years last year. Documented stats.
Don't worry. Trump will just fire whoever published those stats and put in a new guy who will give him the ones he wants to hear.
(Or he will just claim the numbers are due to what he just did even if it doesn' t make any sense. )

Trump evicts the homeless like he evicted the blacks from his properties...

Peoples safety is now a partisan issue....This is weird.

The lived experience of the residents of Washington is somehow discounted by the ''experts''.

The same soft of crime party that was pushing the ''defund police'' B.S.

He is using the national guard incorrectly. Btw Congress cut the city budget.

D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser Unveils Budget to Offset Congress Cuts - The New York Times https://share.google/uGhz1J7sd1uoJl63O

So they in essence defunded the police. Does that sound like a good idea?

Not weird.
Pretty explicit tactic by the Trump Administration here. (And, to be fair, a long-standing tactic of the GOP.)

It should be weird, but it is kind of old hat.

The lived experience of the residents of Washington is somehow discounted by the ''experts''.
I hadn't seen polling say the residents wanted military on their streets.
I'm sure you can point me to it.

First of all, it's a publicity stunt by a president who is treating his tenure as a reality TV show. Each week, there's a new main plot, a new challenge and new adversaries. It masks the fact that Trump is incompetent and has always been incompetent. He's the guy with multiple bankruptcies who always fleeces the rubes for his new multi million dollar project.

The FBI is a limited resource and should be fighting major crime - like human trafficking and the cartels. Clearing drunks, addicts and mental health cripples out of tent cities is below their purview. It's the sort of thing you use the city police for.

At the end of the 15 or 30 days that Trump gets to run law enforcement in DC, all the bums, drunks and crazies will just come back to their alleys and street corners. They have nowhere else to go.

Because when all's said and done, it's a social work / housing issue, not a law enforcement issue.

He's got a favorable rating on crime whereas the Democrats are far behind.

Even Anna isn't getting to upset here, lol.

Interesting how they juke the crime numbers as well.

Which doesn't address the question I asked.
That video doesn't seem to claim that people wanted military policing their streets or that since it has happened, they appreciate it.

Interesting how they juke the crime numbers as well.
Expect to see that one specific article endlessly flogged to justify dismissing any stat they don't like in the future.

Polling of the citizens has show that 91% said it was their number one concern.
Forgot to ask about this, earlier.
That's a huge number and pretty impressive, can you link to that poll please?

Liberals are always... Democrats are the only ones who can fix the problems in the US....
Trump just fixed the border - Democrats opened it.
Trump managed 7 ceasefires - Democrats didn't do shit
Trump managing inflation - Biden-nomics 'nuff said
Trump forcing companies to build in the US - Democrats didn't do shit
Trump is now trying to broker a peace between Russia and Ukraine - Democrats didn't do shit
Liberals - Only democrats can fix the problems in the US.

And this is coming from MSNBC...
Thanks!

So this actually came from the Washington Post (and from the clues in your clip, it is here: https://www.washingtonpost.com/dc-md-va/2025/05/11/dc-mayor-bowser-approval-rating-poll/)

And I'm not surprised to see that I was right about you lying about this.

Polling of the citizens has show that 91% said it was their number one concern.
Which, of course, isn't what the poll says.
It's not even what Scarborough claims it says in that clip.

91% of residents think crime is an extremely, very, or moderately serious problem (as you can see in the actual article).

That's a very different thing than 91% claiming it is their number one concern.

Also note that 76 percent of D.C. residents feel either somewhat or very safe in their neighborhoods, the poll finds, compared with 70 percent who felt similarly last year and 77 percent in 2023.

Note that the number who think it is extremely or very serious is at 50%, down from 65% last year.
And, of course, all this is from May.

So leaning on that poll to explain why he has to declare a state of emergency now and bring in the military isn't particularly strong. (So I can see why you chose to misrepresent what it actually said.)
