Anyone ever, back in the day, camp outside the Princes Gate days or even weeks in advance to be the first in line on opening day just to get free admission , free rides and other perks all day?

Anyone going this year? Not me, haven't been since late 80's.

I go every year. I like the ice skating show, food building, buskers and the International Stage shows.

The women can't wait to parade their asses for the ex...
And the men are there for all of it...

I'd like to go but I find when large groups of people get together someone seems to get shot

As others have commented - it is a great people watching venue with a bit of the variety of a tired old fair thrown in.

We used to go every year, but now our kids are young adults.

Wife and I went a few years ago.
And at end of a long tired day decided it no longer was an every year event for us.

Several years ago I was lucky to be at the CNE on Hot Asian Girl Day. The place was crawling with beautiful young Asian women.

Hearing their commercial on the radio always depresses me. The official summers almost over signal

Went once in 2016 and it wasn't as good as it used to be. They halved the size of the grounds, no free food samples and those samples were like full out meals, a few less rides, less games.
80s/90s CNE was a thing, it was massive, insanely busy, so much going on, you almost couldn't experience it all in one day.
It's a different vibe, it's good if you're a kid or a teenager, but that's it.

Went today for the first time since 1995 (30 years!), remembered some of the rides. So some respects it came across as a giant flea-market, or somewhat like the old basement of the Dixie Outlet Mall (remember Don the CD/DVD guy?)

Agree with the "reminds me that summer is almost over" sentiment above.

And reminds me to avoid driving in that area for the next few weeks.

I haven’t been since 2015. I used to go most years for the airshow. I vividly remember the RAF Nimrod crashing into Lake Ontario in 1995. You could hear a pin drop immediately afterwards. Most people including myself couldn’t believe what just happened.

How was your experience after not being to the CNE in 30 years?

I remember going there when I was a kid but things are so different from back then I can only imagine what it was like 30 years ago 😀

Last time I went there was back in the 70's. Got as far as the first beer garden through the gates. I fondly remember watching a fight. Some big Ontario farm boy beat up 5 bouncers who were trying to eject him for no reason. He became an instant hero to me.
