So I must not give my vote to the NDP or the Green Party
because they, if elected, will not stand up to Trump? But what
about other issues like climate change, immigration and capital
gain tax? And no racist should vote for People's Party as well.

Democracy is a joke.

Mulcair is good at reading the political landscape
the conservatives win if the liberals / NDP split the vote
Mulcair does not want that
the real reason for the recent liberal surge in polling numbers is the collapse of the NDP

climate change, immigration and capital gain tax
Pierre P has you covered here
he has very practical solutions for all three

I think it's more the left merging into one party.

He clearly sounds like he wants NDP voters to go Liberal.
Maybe. The NDP prop up the Liberals anyway.
Or he wants NDP voters to infiltrate the Liberal party and eventually sway it even more left and just call the Democratic Socialist Party of Canada and be done with it.

Aww, this is the tactic du jour.

Have you talked to Butler and Frank about coordination?

This has always been a possibility, just like the Conservatives merged two parties because of the split vote problem.
If it looks going forward that the existence of two parties means the Conservatives would always win, you will see serious moves in the direction of merger.

But they are two separate parties at the moment. He also takes shots at The Green Party and the Bloc Québécois. He's trying his best to funnel votes to liberals.

He's going over board with this.

If it does the Cons are ever further from being in govt then before
Not as big of a deal for Canadians when their opposition has adopted their policies.

The question then becomes how many of those adopted policies will actually be followed through and not turned into "stretch goals" that get abandoned?

Yes.
And they will remain so unless there is enough electoral pressure to force a merger.

Of course.
If the Cons are viewed as a threat (not just a party to be beaten) then convincing people to not split their vote is important.

NDP and Liberal have very distinct policy views. Forcing a merger is fantasy and not necessary as most people will jump ship.

He's a former NDP leader. It's a questionable move. Even at Justin's lowest point, former leaders were not calling for voters to leave the party.

There's something going on. Things ain't tasting right.

nope
money or the lack of money for the NDP will force a merger
the liberals will always be able to gather funds
the NDP not so much

If The Green Party can exist, definitely the NDP can exist.

Get Singh out and elect a better leader.

Province to Province, the NDP has strong support. The question is why doesn't it translate Federally?
