A decent cut of steak is now $20 at my supermarket .

Not long ago, you could go to a restaurant, and get a steak with a side for $20.

What else has gone up tremendously?

Everything

Inflation is the biggest fraud on the average person.

A brand new vehicle I purchased in 2014, today costs 2.7 times more. Exact same vehicle down to the trim level.

I rented out my condo in 2015 for $1,300 a month, today its $3,000 per month.

We use the exact same mechanical parts in my business, I have watched costs go up 50% - 150% in the last 3 years.

This country is done.

I'm in the process of shutting down my business and moving to the states.
It was nice while it lasted Canada.

Covid & the recent inflation increases (although rates are now down) had its effect on prices but let's put dumb Donald's tariffs front and center as the biggest and most useless effect.
Now it's nothing but a worldwide trade wars against the US.

The west is dead. Move to other countries.

Currently buying boneless chicken breasts for 68 baht which is roughly $3 a kilo.
Boneless pork chops $4 a kilo
1.5 Pepsi sugar free 2.25
Chicken quarters less than 3
Beef is cheaper than the west by 50%
Fish cheap
All veggies super cheap

My room with queen bed, weekly clean, cable, a/c, wifi(utilities included)with fridge and outdoor kitchen with gas burner $400.
Decent gym not 24 hr with including Muay Thai gym $20.

A 10oz New York strip with potato and salad at restaurant $12

All this in Thailand. I can't live on around 1k Canadian not including beer and hookers

Thailand is paradise. You can literally eat out every day, and it's still cheaper than eating at home. Not to mention how lively it is, and you can walk around late at night and enjoy street food.

Health care is first rate, people are pretty friendly (not so much the men). Great weather, beaches. If you have money, living in Thailand is a no brainer.

Canada is experiencing dropping productivity and dropping GDP coupled with massive inflation and poor infrastructure.
By the end of Trump’s term, Canada will be so unstable and basically a “garage sale” for America to pick over at this rate.

The consumer is paying more and getting less, increasingly these days.
Shrinkflation is taking over too, soon you'll open a bag of chips and find just one lonely chip at the bottom, and you'll still be paying full price if not double that!

Everyone blaming Trudeau and the Liberals are letting their blind hatred affect their reasoning when the issue is corporate greed.

How dare you mock Galen Weston Jr's beauty sleep. lol

I've put off traveling due to my drug cocktail, if I had to pay for the same regimen in the States I'd be bankrupt.

As for groceries, a box of almonds cost $3.99 at the end of the 10's, now it costs 8.99. How can Sicily sustain its nut production while California cant? Sicily doesn't prioritize golfers over farmers.

Fox lies to protect Jehovah.

When and at what restaurant could you get a decent steak and a side for $20?? (Like in 1997?)
At the Duke chain of pubs, until the 201Xs you could get a steak, caesar salad, and fries for under $20. The steak wasn't huge, but wasn't small either.

Yeah minimum I have seen is atleast 40 bucks.
I think it was in 2022. I am in Boston in a steak house. A colleague and I are inviting a client. The menu only had a one-line description of 5 types of steak on top of each other. And a very small number to the right, with no $ sign, that went from 50, 60 up to 90 for the last line. Below were a bunch of sides.

I tell the waiter my piece of meat and all sides. The total was 36$. I told the others hey it's not bad 36 for that steak and sides. They told me dude you forgot to add the 70$ for the steak you chose. Holly fuck I said I had no clue those were prices!!!

As we were laughing, the waiter came back to ask if we wanted water. My colleague said yes. The waiter said Sparkling bottles? Our invitee said no, take it from the bathroom, toilet bowl.. :ROFLMAO:
