Trump is making all these federal cuts and tariffs, only to have to bail these industries out down the line.

Layoff, inflation, supply chain shortages, production delays and shrinking trade market with your biggest partners is going to be a lot of pressure on the American economy.

Fun times ahead.

I do think it's part of the plan. Once the economy completely tanks, the billionaires will take hold of massive assets. The American oligarchs will be born.

Stupid citizens will still blame it on the democrats.

It was always a bluff. He can't cut off power. He can, however, clean out the LCBO of American products. He can slap extra fees on power, but it would probably be best to leave the retaliation to the Feds. As long as all the provinces play ball, especially the nutjob in Alberta. I think Ford is doing a decent job showing Canadian pride even though he was STUPID enough to support Trump during the election.

I've been saying the exact same thing for years.

Canada is sandwiched between the US and Russia if you go over the North Pole. It's fucking insane we don't have nuclear weapons, because if one of those countries goes completely rogue, we're at risk; if both of them go rogue, we're fucked. Russia has already gone rogue and 'Murica is heading in that direction.

That said, I don't think Trump wants military conflict with Canada -- he wants economic warfare, but that's only going to work short-term, and the Yanks are also going to pay a hefty price, maybe even more than we will.

I don't think this is the catastrophe that everybody's making it out to be.
Canada will somehow find a way to cope with these tariffs.

Also my gut feeling tells me that after a few weeks or months Trump will find a reason to cancel the tariffs once his economy goes down the shitter. He will say he got concessions from Canada/China/Mexico, and claim victory. And that will be the end of it

US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick said that President Donald Trump could announce a trade deal with Mexico and Canada as soon as tomorrow, just one day after the US imposed punishing tariffs on the two nations and sparked retaliatory levies.

“I think he’s going to work something out with them,” Lutnick said on Fox Business. “It’s not going to be a pause, none of that pause stuff, but I think he’s going to figure out, you do more, and I’ll meet you in the middle some way, and we’re going to probably be announcing that tomorrow.”
