Iraq's military were already decimated by the time Bush
lauched the invasion in 2003. From what I remember
not one single Iraqi fighter jet engaged the American invaders.
Shiites and Sunni Muslims seemed to have no issues living
along side each other in Iraq for decades before the invasion
If Trump invades us I will hope to settle whatever issues with him first
by diplomacy. But if Russia, China and India step in sending us generous
economic and military aid like Trudeau and other NATO members with
Ukraine many Canadians will be rallied to take on Trump on the battlefield.

"weaken Russia" is exchangeable with "defend Ukraine". It is equally
valid or equally bogus to use either of the two terms. I suspect "weaken
Russia" holds more truth to Ukrainians who have seen 20% of territories
taken, 7 million of its people fled the country, mineral wealth stolen
and maybe as many as half a million of citizens killed.
