There's a good chance I would say that his earlier misogynistic videos are just a role that he is playing to lure young men into following him. He says some really egregious stuff. The videos feel like a wrestling promo. With him playing the heel.
He's bombastic, manipulative, charismatic and egotistical there's no doubt. The thing is that after all this time we still don't see a trial, haven't seen any victims testimony. Outside of this role he's playing there doesn't seem to be any credible evidence against him.
Let's see what happens in the future
Nothing that has come out since his arrest has made him look any better or any more innocent.

The Tates are his kind of people.
The Tates have been cultivated by the Far Right internet for several years. I suspect this is because the Tates have a following of several million dumb young guys and influence them and this makes them advantageous for Trump and his buddies to cultivate and protect. The Tates also support Putin and other far right beliefs and causes.
