the raptors often don't get solid veterans to join, or not since the championship season or the VC days. other teams get reliable veterans signed in FA all the time.

Well we have one in Chris Boucher. He's on fire from 3 this year. he often changes the tone in a losing game, and does all the hustle plays, yet they always talk about trading him. I don't know why there isn't even the conversation of having him start???

in 17 minutes a game he averages 10 points and 4.5 rebounds on 50% shooting.

With Brandon Ingram coming to play with Poetl, Barnes, Barret and Quickley, isn't it time to lock in some solid veteran bench players, if not starting him?????

Ochai, Shead, and Mogbo all look like promising bench players too but Boucher is proven. I hope these guys continue to improve and add to the depth.

By the way, anyone who understands the cap space better than i might be able to shoot down this notion of keeping Boucher?......

Due to the cap, and more improtantly the Raptors proximity to tax line, I think this will be the last year for Boucher. I like Boucher as well, but unless he is willing to take near the vet minimum, I think he will be done with the Raos

Raptors are spending lots on their 5 starters next year who will all be beyond rookie level contracts. They will be over the cap and more importantly not far from the tax line, and they don't want to be a tax team until they are in contention. There are consequences to being a tax team 2 or 3 years jn a row, and it gets worse each year -- so you only want to go into the tax when you are good.

So Boucher will likely be gone. That being said, unlike other teams who are out of it, I don't think the Raps will cut Boucher the next few weeks so he can go to a contender -- that is because they will want to return his FA / "bird" rights in case they decide to make it work this offseason.

Lots of rambling, hope I made it a bit more clear.

Yes…but Boucher puts up those numbers primarily against other teams’ second units. I don’t think CB is a starting player on a contending team.
