I am very glad that the US and Russian Presidents are at least in contact. IMHO this is essential, and I am optimistic Trump will engage with Xi at some point as well. Could Trump attend the 80th annversary Victory Day Parade? Will the USA have a contingent marching with the Red army to celebrate their joint sacrifice and victory? Its a tragedy that Urkainians and Russians are dying on the same battlegrounds their great grandfathers died on. On the assertion the war would never have happened if Trump won in 2020, I agree with him. This was not a hard war to avoid. Ukraine could have been a neutral nation, with Donbas being a semi-autonomous republic like Chechnya is in Russia, they could have been an EU Partner, not wasting money on defence and also have a free trade agreement with Russia. Instead the county is destroyed, depopulated and faces a bleak future as a rump state with likely at least 10 years of a Russian puppet govt, loss of territory maybe as far as Odessa. There is no win for Trump in Ukraine, just a quick exit and move on. Yes some will call him a Putin Puppet, but he is not running again. Lame duck also means much less focus on political collateral.

Ukraine could have, and in my opinion should have chosen to be a neutral nation.
But they are an independent nation and they can make their own decisions.
Russia was at fault for invading and destroying the country just because they did not like Ukraine's choices.
But as usual the US has thrown another one of its allies under the bus. Nothing new there.

Ukraine stopped making its own choices in 2014, that is what started the war. The Ukrainian people voted for Zelensky becuase he promised to end the civil war and make peace with Russia. I guess that will sorta happen, just not the way they expected. 🤷‍♂️

The sheer, brazen audacity of this fuckwad to confirm what we have all suspected.

Basically, a traitor.
