He would have been 80 today.

Me and 2 guys actually saw him at the old maple leaf gardens when we were in first year uni. The audience was amazing. I had never seen locks that long. By the end of the show you could barely see the other side of the gardens because of the smoke. It was illegal in those days, but cops chose not to get involved (they were proly high, too).

A few years later I met a guy who sold me 4 cheap thrills 3rd row center tickets to see him again at the same venue, but alas …we know what happened and the show was cancelled

At least I got to see him once. One of the best performances I’ve ever seen.

As a young man who loved old rock and roll, I never heard of him until I met my wife who is from Guyana and she loved Marley and Reggae music and she taught me to dance to his music which was great but she laughed at my style of Ska music combined with R & R music.

Yeah, I saw him, too--in Philly in 1975 or 76, I forget which. I had already given up weed, as the stuff my brother was getting from the musicians he knew from working at Columbia records--musician grade, I called it--made it feel as if my organs were being digested. Far out, man! But it was Bob Marley, man, so my pot-head friend and I lit up big time, me for the very last time. Whatta concert: poignant, heartfelt, moving, and full of boogie. Couldn't keep me butt from swaying and my feet from moving and my head out of the dancing clouds.

RIP to an atf. I loved his son's music and now enjoy his grandson' (Lauren Hill as a mom) music.

All these years I did not know Bob Marley's son was in a relationship with Lauryn Hill and they produced 5 kids together. What rock was I under

Ahah! And her first born Zion, which she sings about in the MOLH album, has children now. I felt so old...

My roommate in uni was West Indian. He dragged me to see him at Convocation Hall.
We had tickets for the second of two shows. The first seating WOULDN'T leave, we were ushered onto the floor right in front of Marley.
My first exposure to Reggae.

He was deeply flawed, but he had a way with words, and his music with the Wailers is a timeless gift.

Those who got to see him are damn lucky! Nowadays I always try to see the artists I like whenever I can, when they aren't here anymore that experience is lost for those who didn't have it, and his must've been wonderful. Rip!
