Opera singer analysis of Kurt Cobain voice

I think she has nailed it

Not a great voice but a great gritty voice for grunge and she explains how hard it is for singers to dwell in the emotions of their personal songs they play over and over

She identifies with this as an opera singer as the songs they sing are of deep pain

It killed Cobain

she really knows how to appreciate a song and coming from an opera singer she validates the greatness of Cobain and grunge in general

give it a listen

A full performance of the ring cycle, of which this piece is part, takes place over four nights at the opera, with a total playing time of about 15 hours

I agree with Mark Twain, I cannot imagine sitting through it

The story of Die Walküre is based on the Norse mythology told in the Völsunga saga and the Poetic Edda. In this version, the Volsung twins Sieglinde and Siegmund, separated in childhood, meet and fall in love. This union angers the gods, who demand that Siegmund must die. Sieglinde and the couple's unborn child are saved by the defiant actions of Wotan's daughter, the title character, Valkyrie Brünnhilde, who as a result faces the gods' retribution.

Ravels Bolero - According to the movie “10!” it’s the most “erotic” piece of music.

Maya Plisetskaya is a Russian legend

The dancers look like they are riding a horse LOL. I doubt that was Ravels intent but I totally love this dance

So true, Wagner has excruciatingly boring half hours, try getting through Act 2 of Die Walkure without snoring. He also has moments that are scalp tingling thrilling.

Welsh stud Bryn Terfel as Wotan.

Having spent time around opera singers, they are in an constant state of terror that their voice will break. That is why some of them get so fat. Canadian tenor Ben Heppner retired in 2016, he wasn't going to risk the loss of timbre. Can't blame him, he's older than I am. He currently has a show about singing in CBC Radio 2.

Where's danmand?

Took in Die Walkure at the 4 Season when it first opened. The acoustics were outstanding. During Act 2 I had to take a wicked piss, there was still another half hour of drudgery to go. I looked toward the isle, patrons had their heads tilted back with their mouths ajar some had droll leaking down their cheeks...I wasn't going anywhere.

The best part of Act 2 is the prelude before the monotony. From La Scala in Milano.

Gustav Mahler is the George Costanza of classical music. His symphonies are too long and highly neurotic, with moments of sheer melodrama. I call his 7th, the Road to Nowhere. Whenever Dave Hurwitz plays 20th Century Russian music, his cats )Finster and Mildred) run away. Soviet Realism at it's finest: The Brown Log Symphony.
