Hey Mich, I would not be so sure in the infallibility of Trump and USA.
USA is fighting the Tariffs trade war against Canada, Mexico, the EU, Russia and China ( maybe all of BRICS) at the same time. Does not seem smart to me.

If it wasn't already apparent, today, Feb 1, 2025 marked the official end of the Liberal party in Canada. I thought they might go into the penalty box for 10-15 years, but I now believe that we will never see the name Liberal in a Canadian federal political party ever again. Trudeau has not only screwed over our entire country, but he has driven his own party into extinction.
The thread is about Trump attempting to put Canada in recession and most of the people here are attacking Trudeau. Proves that partisan idiocy is above reason. And proves why I don't believe in humanity.
Just in case we all forgot. The person leading our country cannot get his calls returned by the US President. He does not have the confidence of his own caucus or parliament. How is he the best person to lead us through this crisis? We are a banana republic because of the vanity of one man.

Get to a camera & mic - tell him to recall Parliament, & tell him to call an immediate federal election. This crisis is happening because of Trump. He was going to push this whatever stripe was in charge. This did not start because of Trudeau,
This is not to say a more stable fed, whatever stripe, would help us fight it better moving forward instead of Trudeau. We are not in ideal situation lacking the central cog to bring everyone together.

I still have mixed feelings for him. If he can end the Urkaine war and the slaughter in Gaza then I am more willing to accept this. But I think this will prove to be a big mistake. Both Canada and Mexico retaliated immediately, and heavily. I still say we need to inject pain in energy, and I also like the fact the Cad govt did 31B immediately and will take 21 days to announce the full 155B so we can do it and minimize harm to Canadians and the Canadian econ. Its strong but reasonable. I think they wil be ready with some nasty energy measures if Trump follows through with further escalation.
