So if India interfered to keep Patrick Brown out, who did they want in?

And if India interfered to get their (un-named) guy in, how much does that guy now owe India?

And if you actually care about Canada, how can you support a guy that owes favours to India?

If you read the article the theory is that due to Brown choosing to have Close Sikh ties the Govt of India saw him as a threat to their national security.
The Canadian equivalent would be back 40+ years ago Canada making someone persona non grata for cozying up to the Bloc when they were actively trying to separate.

I do not condone this, but I see no connection to Pierre. It would have been to the benefit of any and all candidates. Considering he won it handily with about 70% Brown wasn't a big threat.

No doubt we see the same in the Ukrainian community with Freeland.

Your "allegedly" is doing a lot of work, seeing as CTV retracted the story, and neither of the women have pressed charges.

I'm (admittedly) stretching a little here, but, Rempel Garner exits after pressure from India, Uppal accuses Brown of the same thing Indian Government agents were doing against Brown. Poilievre gets first ballot support because of all the noise around Brown.

Now the stretch is why Uppal, a Sihk, would support India, but stranger things have happened.

No I don't think so.
Off late I have seen he doesn't give straight answers and has largely been unimpressive when Trump was doing the threatening.
My initial enthusiasm to vote for him is starting to wane.

I think remaining calm and firm, and letting diplomatic channels work as opposed to running down to Mara Lago to bend the knee are better options.

Feel free to change your vote, I promise it won't make a difference to the outcome.

Translation:

"If you take more of my oil at a discount, I'll spend less on my citizens and more on military equipment so you don't have to"

I agree the consulate overstepped. But that is what they do. They advocate and lobby for various issues, be it trade, visas, and other support policy.

Rempel reported it. No doubt the Indian Govt revieved a backdoor warning to turn the heat down. Right now Modi is too aggressive and needs to be reigned in. Best way to do that is to limit visas. And some public admonishments, along with getting allies on side.

Modi is another symptom of Greater Isolationist and Populist government trends across the world. But don't assume conspiracy where it's just nations doing what they always do.

IDU took them off because they got caught killing Canadians. Even Harper can figure out those optics. Pretty naieve to belive Modi and Harper/PP are not still working together.

So you are making assumptions? Sure go ahead, I do, but I think you are absolutely wrong.

And as I said, the consulate over stepped. And should be investigated. And possibly sanctions imposed. But once again, things can happen without PP's knowledge. They see Brown with Sikhs, and PP with an Indian Wife and mixed kids, who else would they back. Just because it's so obvious who would be better for them.

But PP is a nationalist and Populist. So the main benefit is HE WON'T INVOLVE THE CANADIAN GOVT in the Sikh movement. And that's all Modi wants. PP doesn't have to even play nice on visas. In fact Modi is smart enough to realize that. Just not having someone owing the Sikh dispora in Canada favors is more than enough for India.

Again, doassume conspiracy where natural common ground just exists.
