Toronto police investigate the collision, near the U of T downtown campus, involving a white pickup truck that sent two pedestrians and a cyclist to hospital on Wednesday evening.

Two pedestrians and a cyclist have been seriously injured after a multi-vehicle collision near the University of Toronto’s downtown campus.

A pickup truck driver was involved in a collision with two other vehicles, two pedestrians and a cyclist near College and St. George streets just after 5 p.m. on Wednesday evening, according to Toronto police.

A woman in her 20s and a man in his 40s, who were walking in the area, and a cyclist in his 50s were all taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The pickup truck driver remained at the scene, police said in a tweet posted to X.

At the corner of the intersection was a smashed blue vehicle with glass shattered over the street. Next to it was a white vehicle — that didn’t appear to be damaged — being towed by police.

A few feet in front of the two cars was a bicycle, lying twisted and crushed on the sidewalk. A traffic signal post, a light post and garbage bin were also knocked down.

Crews secure wires from a lamppost that was knocked over in the Wednesday evening collision as a crumpled bike lays on the sidewalk.

Half a block west of the scene, on the north side of the street, a white pickup truck was on the sidewalk with damage to the front, the licence plate hanging off and the front-left wheel askew.

The pickup truck appeared to have gone out of control, ran into two cars, two pedestrians and a cyclist after driving off the road and over the curb separating the bike lane before stopping on the sidewalk in front of the U of T bookstore.

The posted speed limit is 40 km/h.

Staff at the University of Toronto Bookstore said they were alarmed and heard the crash noises but didn’t see the collision happen.

College Street was temporarily closed between Beverley and McCaul Streets as officers investigated. The 506 Carlton streetcar was being rerouted to Dundas Street between Ossington Avenue and Bay Street.

The intersection was reopened within a few hours.

Way to sensationalize this accident, way beyond what really happened. The driver remained on scene. So it was an "accident," nothing more.

You're safe @Anbarandy.

No, not even a little bit, not even at all.

1) The photos and text portray utter inner city, urban destruction and carnage on a level that evokes the results of a motor vehicle rampage that would make Godzilla go, "Hmmm not bad, not bad at all".

2) There is no "sensationalizing". 1 pickup truck driver went on a Godzilla-esque rampage. That rampage smashed up two innocent vehicles, crashed through a separated bike lane to destroy a bicycle, a traffic signal post, a light post and a garbage. The photos attest to this fact.

3) Oh, the human carnage!

Two innocent pedestrians and one cyclist just minding their own business, just walking and cycling along the sidewalk and separated bike lane when all of sudden they were beset/assaulted/attacked from out of nowhere by a rampaging pickup truck driver who just destroyed two motor vehicles. These 2 innocent pedestrians and one cyclist were sent to hospital with serious injuries as result of the rampage.

And you quaintly report, "a pickup driver was involved in a collision ..... with two pedestrians and a cyclist".

How the eff do 2 pedestrians and one cyclist who were NOT on the road qualify as being involved in a collision with a motor vehicle?

It does NOT.

It definitely and categorically was NOT a collision between an out of control rampaging pickup truck driver and 3 innocent civilians, it was a physical rampage against 3 innocent civilians

How do you know that a medical emergency didn't happen to the driver? That would make it an unavoidable and unfortunate accident. These things do happen, you know that right?

So your take that it's a motor vehicle rampage is way off base! Besides, who rampages for such a short distance and stays on scene?

SMH...

Wow, you're just grasping at straws now.

Let's just stick to the known facts, eh?

Known facts:

An out of control, rampaging pickup truck driver:

1) Smashed up two innocent vehicles on the road

2) Then crashed through a separated bike lane

3) Then destroys a bicycle

4) Pulverizes a traffic signal post

5) Demolishes a light post

6) Mangles a garbage bin

7) Barrels into a 20-year-old female pedestrian

8) Bulldozes into a 40-year-old male pedestrian

9) Attacks a 50-year-old cyclist

10) All 3 human carnage victims were transported to hospital with serious injuries

11) College St at St George was rendered a torn apart, demolished and destroyed inner city, Godzillian-like hellscape

12) All of the above indisputable and undeniable facts listed above leads to the inescapable conclusion that ....

..... the pickup truck driver went on a brutalizing, full-on, Godzillian-like rampage through a peaceful, inner city, urban neighborhood.

There's also sidewalks so I suppose we should get rid of them also cause you know cars can plow over those as well.

You make it sound like the Christmas Market crash in Germany. Unfortunately these things are going to happen in a big city, along with innocent pedestrians being shot to death while out for a stroll by drug dealers. Glad nobody was killed this time.

It is slippery out there.
Must have skid and lost control.
Unless he was under the influence, or was doing a German style car attack, I wouldn't characterize it as a "rampage".

Wow!

Where did I state it was intentional or likened it to the Christmas Market crash? BTW - The German thing was not a "crash" and neither was the College thing "a collision" or a "crash" between pedestrians/cyclist and a pickup truck.

The resultant aftermath of the College St. is quite evident from the photos and text. A scene and aftermath akin to a Godzilla-like inner city, urban rampage.

We're you that upset about a thread title?

Not the results of a rampage but a "collision" between a pickup truck and pedestrians/cyclist.

Okay! Yeah. Right. Sure.
