Just reviewing some old family videos and saw my 5 year old baby daughter dancing to Tracey Ullman's "They don't know".

Brought back a lot of memories of the eighties. People no longer dance and sing like that. Those were great times for music in the eighties. Time flies.

Enjoy this remastered version of the song, showing Paul McCartney and Tracey.

Thanks for the memories. I watched the whole thing and enjoyed this lovely song. But where was Paul McCartney? The guy at the beginning?

Look at the remastered version of the song, towards the very end of the song, there was Paul McCartney driving a car with Tracey sitting on the passenger side.

I just can't stop hearing the song over and over again. My 5 year old daughter who was dancing with this song when I taped the video is now grown up, left home and has a career and life of her own. I am glad I kept the videos and converted them from VHR tapes to DVDs and then now kept on my computer for me to remind me of the good old days. My career was blossoming in those days, probably the best years of my career.

I remember hearing that song but not knowing who sang it until recently. One of the comments regarding the original Kristy Mcall version was that she made a 50s song in the 70s. That is how it sounded to me. Good song by the way

On Top of the Pops, most performers mimed to prerecorded music. Here Tracey sings into a hairbrush microphone while performing Breakaway in 1983:

I think hairbrush microphone miming is sort of the female equivalent of air guitar.

I love this song and video. Tracey Ullman was so funny in John Water's It's a Dirty Shame. The Simpsons also started as 5 minute shorts on her TV show in the 80s.

I keeping watching my old family videos, watching my then 5 years old daughter dancing to "They Don't Know" and singing "baby, baby" just like Tracey in the song. I can't help but smile. I now just get to see my daughter once or twice a year when she visits me for Xmas/new year. Super glad I kept the family videos. Bring back a lot of fond memories.

Her singing was a sideline to her brilliant comedy impressions.

Kirsty MacColl also sang back-up on the track, providing the "Baay-byy" because it was too high a pitch for Ullman. Glad to know we can hear the voice of the artist who wrote the song in Tracey's videos.

Watching the remastered video again and realized when the dancers lined up together and dance, and also moving their feet left, and then right together, in those days, they called them the line dance and the step dance, way before the Twist came along. How much the way people dance has changed. I much preferred when dancing with a babe, she wrapps her hands on my neck, presses her boobs on my chest and slow dances with me and
I end up with a bulge in my pants and feel her heart beats.

Didn't she have her own show? Was she a singer first or actress first? I wonder if she sang in her show.
