What a stupid example. You see that orange sign? The one that indicates a lane closure where two lanes merge into one? Of course traffic is going to be backed up. You have two lanes filtering into one. Same thing is happening daily, both east and west on the Gardiner. Where traffic merges from three lanes to two. Duh!
Its a good example, that's the crap that slows traffic. You can't put two lanes anywhere in downtown without that happening, especially along Bloor and Yonge.

College and Dundas are about the same for driving, with Dundas more often being slower despite no bike lanes.
Its not bike lanes.
You really couldn't make a worse comparison. Dundas, for the most part is limited to just one lane of traffic each way. College, while it does have a section with bike lanes, also has a lot of areas where it has two lanes of traffic each direction, which make traffic flow better. That's the reason Waze will direct you across town on College vs. Dundas. The bike lane has nothing to do with it.

Sure. Right. No orange signs below

Of course traffic is going to be backed up. You have 8, 10, 12, 16 lanes below unable to handle a mass mess of single occupant motor vehicle traffic mayhem.

Duh!

Dundas St. creates its own bike lane organically for the more intrepid cyclist.

It's between all the parked vehicles at the curb, lawfully or unlawfully, as far as the eyes can see and the single travel lane that all these parked vehicles so graciously allow to exist.

Ah, it was beautiful, crisp, late fall day out on Bloor St. W. from Runnymede, High Park, Bloordale, Christie Pits, Annex, U of T.

No motor vehicle congestion, happy and safe cyclists. Smiles all around.

What was it like on the 400 series highways for you out of towners?

I had a quick chore to do downtown today. I looked at my bikes with love, remotely started my vehicle, got into it five minutes later when the steering wheel got properly heated, drove downtown with a big smile and came back with a ton of groceries from whole foods that wouldn’t fit into my bike bag.

There was gridlock but since my vehicle is semi self driving I was on the internet including terb the entire time so the drive was not bad…

Congratulations, another moronic post. You actually believe the majority of the people traveling on the 401 do so because there's a way faster way to get from point A to B on a regular basis? All you have to do is use Google Maps, punch in a crosstown trip, and you'll see the fastest way to get most places, is by car. But I don't expect you to be smart enough to do that.

You're such a crybaby. Maybe you should move to the country since you hate cars so much.

The annoying trait of acting morally superior to others is called sanctimony. It describes you to a T.

As was correctly stated previously and is now further evidenced by the above litany of abject futility you, GameBoy2, have frittered away, exhausted, lost any remaining shred of credibility that you have proclaimed to possess as TERB's foremost cyclist/bike lane/commuting/transportation/accident reconstructionist/road infraction counting/blaming expert.

Toronto's self-proclaimed, 'cyclist extraordinaire" who is hair-triggered to cast blame upon the ills of the roadway onto other cyclists and most baffling of all, infer that cycling victims of motorists are basically to blame and are at fault for being hit, knocked off their bikes, injured, maimed, dismembered and killed by inattentive, careless, negligent and reckless motor vehicle drivers.

With regard to blame in a cyclist/vehicle collision, I don't automatically assume it was the motorist who's at fault. While you on the other hand, assume the motorist is at fault 100% of the time. Why, because you hate cars. Your photo above proves absolutely nothing. I asked you whether the motorist merging onto Bayview was charged and convicted with the death of the cyclist. It's not an unreasonable question.

You never answered this question. Do you seriously believe the majority of the people traveling on the 401 do so because there's a way faster way to get from point A to B on a regular basis? Perhaps my questions are too difficult for you.

What we needed was planned, financed and started but then killed by the Ford brothers.
Miller's Transit City plan put LRT's and subways across the city, if it hadn't been killed we would be where we need to be with transit.

Instead we've got Ford screwing up Metrolinx, with the 14 year Eglinton LRT a prime example. While that and other builds move slowly along the two main lines have become incredibly poorly maintained and filled with the homeless who suffer from lack of housing and social services. That's keep other users off the now untrustworthy and occasionally dangerous main transit lines. More of this won't help.

You need every option and bike lanes are cheap and good option. They don't cause congestion, that's by stupid drivers parking in lanes, getting stuck in intersections, delivery trucks taking lanes and construction overflowing into streets.
Transit City was a stupid plan by car hater Miller. The St.Clair street car is a prime example of how out of touch with reality David Miller was.

No, it's not shocking at all that you and hundreds, upon hundreds of thousands of others like you from the suburbs, inner suburbs and exurbs just hop in your car for every single, solitary thing that pops into your minds. It's a mindset, it's nurture, it's bred into the culture out there, it's in your DNA.

Throughout all of your whiny, moaning, sobbing posts detailing your motor vehicle traveling escapades into Dante's car hell of congestion and gridlock, not once has a bike lane factored into contributing in any way other than maybe insignificantly and trivially to your travels through and to, the motor vehicle apocalypse.

Bloor, University and Yonge St bike lanes have zero fuck all to with your motor vehicle travels into hell.

Stay in your insulated shell @Anbarandy , as we all know how the folks that live in the core feel about anyone from outside the city. Afterall, the city only exists south of Bloor, west of Parliament and from High Park east. The snobbery is evident and why I moved out of the core, years ago. Remain in your bubble and look scornfully upon those of us who come into the city to work, visit friends and go to events.

The only whiny person is yourself and the other "elite" of the city, who frown upon others as the great unwashed and it's because of our postal code. Your venom to others who don't conform to your Utopic ideals of city shows, and then Torontonians wonder why they are hated by the rest of Canada. Hmmm. Get yourself a tissue and find a shoulder to cry upon.

If you drive that section of the Bayview Extension, you can easily see how a collision could occur there. You have a ramp, that merges with northbound traffic, on a sweeping right hand bend. A cyclist rounding the bend, would be in the blind spot of vehicles merging onto Bayview. Considering there's a dedicated bike path, on that whole stretch, adjacent to Bayview, it's extremely rare that you would encounter a cyclist on that section of the roadway. Personally, I would never put myself in danger like that.
With regard to blame in a cyclist/vehicle collision, I don't automatically assume it was the motorist who's at fault. While you on the other hand, assume the motorist is at fault 100% of the time. Bro, you make utterly baseless, and wildly false claims, in this case mythical blind spots of vehicles merging from the ramp onto Bayview northbound, which I flushed down the toilet where they belong by simply posting these following 2 photos of the ramp in question:

bayview.PNG bayview1.PNG

Bro, you always automatically victimize cyclists hit, hurt, maimed, dismembered and killed by motor vehicle drivers and in this case, shall we say by out and out, lying.
