Oh right, silly me. He couldn't possibly find a Republican governor in a border state to do his bidding. Thank you for explaining it to me.
A state governor can call out the National Guard - like Walz did in the BLM demos. The preconditions to doing so are very high. Neither DeSantis nor Abbott has ever remotely mentioned calling out the NG for border enforcement and that implies that chasing down illegals doesn't meet the requirements for using the NG.

Read the Wiki article carefully and THINK about what the PCA actually says.

But you miss the point..... The FEDERAL GOVERNMENT cannot employ the regular armed forces to enforce civil laws WITHIN THE USA. It can't be done. It's specifically banned.

So the whole thing is a stupid-ass exercise in Trump-dumbo verbally jerking off into a kleenex.

Trump is going to mention it a few times and then drop it.

OTOH the US does all sorts of shit that is actually banned. But yeah, I don't think he is going to do it, he does like to say random thing without consideration.

Rome =/= the US. Different country and 2000 years back.
You would be surprised the similarities. In this case the Office of the President includes being Comnander in Chief. It is a parallel to the Roman tradition of "Protectors of Rome" with the ability to command troops in times of crisis. Add in the Senate. And of course empire(in this case economic) building and spreading their culture.

Yeah, it totally jumps out at me that Trump is Julius Caesar.

That means Boebert must be Cleopatra..... 🤪

Remind me, its been a while. Did the Roman legion ever cross the Rubicon?
It led to 20 years of civil war and the establishment of the empire.

But a completely different set up. The late republic was composed of competing factions of senators, each of whom tried to get control of the armies in the provinces through forcing the nomination of faction members to army commands. If 1 group got a preponderance of armies, it would attack and annihilate the other faction. When JC got control of the armies in Gaul, this dysfunctional situation had already been in effect for about 50 years, starting with the Marius-Sulla wars.

Caesar crossed the Rubicon because his Gaul army and its allies were stronger than the armies controlled by Pompey. So crossing the Rubicon caused Pompey to flee to Greece and recruit his armies up to strength and then take on JC. Caesar wins and then gets assassinated by his former cronies in the Senate who assume that they can then become co dictators.

And then Marc Anthony fights Brutus and Cassius. And then Octavius fights MA...

But you knew all this and that's why you made your brilliantly insightful post, right?

I think Posse Comitatus is one of those big, red lines in the sand though.

I’ve accepted that Trump won. I don’t like it but that changes nothing.

Anyway…your response kinda proves my point: if the only reason someone votes for Trump is because their feelings have been hurt by mean things I and others like me may have said then it suggests that they don’t have much of an interest or understanding of the actual issues themselves. They are just sheep who are easily manipulated and probably shouldn’t be allowed to vote.

Anyway…I hope I don’t come across as mean or insensitive to your feelings. I feel through discussion I have gained a better understanding of your delicate sensibilities and I shall strive to respect them.

It's not the reason. In fact that couldn't be further from the truth actually.
The majority of the American voting public didn't vote for Trump based on "feelings". They voted for him because they were sold lies by the Dems, who by the way, had 4 years to prove they could make people's lives better than the previous 4 years and they failed.
One of the main reasons why they failed, is because they governed to sway people's feelings through virtue signaling and a woke agenda, rather than actually improving people's lives.
They focused on keeping Trump out of office rather than using the office for the good of the people. If the majority of the voting public were happy, they would have kept the Dems in office. Fact is they weren't and they didn't.

I guess you could argue that the Dems manipulated voters in 2020, if mass-manipulation is something you believe in.

It's pretty simple. If mass illegal immigration is possible, so too is mass deportation.

There are two types of people: those who do and those who don't.

The former is very rare.

The latter are the "should've, could've, would've" camp. The "can't, won't, don't" camp.

They sit by and watch as the people who can and will, change history, dragging them along like spoiled children toward better things.

If the constitution isn't...

As one wag pointed out, if they were to rewrite it, they really should add "we really mean this" after every part.

If the democrat Governors threatening to oppose ICE from detaining illegal immigrants, Executive Chief has the power to use the military...they are bound by decree to defend the country and the constitution from enemies of the state, foreign and domestic...the illegal immigrants have already been sent notice to get out of the country...you'd rather them stay in the barracks doing nothing?

He can't. The Posse Comitatus Act blocks him.

End of story.

Not end of story.
Whether or not PC blocks him isn't known yet.
There is a reason he wants to declare an emergency.

Also, laws are just words on paper.
If he orders the troops to do it and they do it, then it doesn't matter what the Posse Comitatus Act says, now does it?

You seem torn...
If Trump doesn't do what he promised then you'll cry about him breaking his promises.
If Trump does do what he promised, then you'll cry about how he did it.
Not torn at all.
If he is stopped from doing it, either by his own fecklessness or through people stopping him through resistance or legal action, then I will be happy.
