"Managing your finances" is a vague statement.
Making profit means targeting your services to a certain profitable segment.
None of these business strategies apply to governments who serve all citizens equally at a massive scale.
A government has
responsibilities
Responsibilities including maintaining political, social and economic stability
it defiantly does not have the mandate to re-distribute wealth
governments role consists of fulfilling functions e.g. legislating and enforcing laws, defense, boarder security, education, health care public roads and infrastructure tax collection etc so that it fulfils its
responsibilities
a government collects taxes for the purpose of funding its operational requirements
not to enrich self serving public sector unions to do a piss poor job of fulfilling functions (post office)
not to enrich corrupt polticans and their friends
not to guarantee economic security to those who are able but “unwilling to work.” do you recall this absurdity
and just like any other organization it has
the responsibility to judiciously manage the funds entrusted to it by the citizens of the country
very similar to how a companies management has
the responsibility to judiciously manage the funds entrusted to it by the shareholders
governments have all but abandoned their
responsibility to judiciously manage the money entrust to it by the citizens very poorly
to the point bankruptcy, insolvency is a definite possibility (Greece, Argentina etc. etc. )
now if you are still confused ask what happens to the govt functions you demand if the govt becomes insolvent ?
ask Greece, Argentina etc. etc.
the loonies should really be the ones demanding govt efficiency as they are the ones who stand to lose the most when it falls apart
