Therefore there is simply no need to criminalize and harass Canadian gun owners.

Regardless of the percentage of Canadians vs. Americans that are smuggling them across the border, the fact remains, the vast majority of weapons used in the commission of crimes in Canada, are smuggled in from the US. It's not law abiding Canadian gun owners that are the problem. Even though JT wants people to believe that, and somehow he's going to make things safer by making things harder for legal gun owners. All the guns seized the other day were from the US. The only way to combat the increase in gun crimes is to stop the practice of continually releasing people charged with weapons offences. That and harsher sentences. Yes, gun laws in Canada work to keep guns off the streets. We don't see crimes committed very often with stolen Canadian guns.
