Given the fact a lot of folks in this town are either directly or indirectly employed by the Public Service, I wonder if the ongoing *Refocused Government Spending* exercise has put a chill (or reduced the frequency) on the hobby.

I understand not all hobbyists are Public Servants so just curious to get a good gauge of the current landscape. Also welcome perspectives from the SPs as well: are you seeing less traffic now or as busy as ever?

Anything that tends to dry up government spending or affect government jobs, will have a corresponding impact on the "hobby". It's just that kind of town.

I am happy to give my point of vue here.
I haven’t seen any changes so far on the trafic.
I see less clients during those periods.
-Back to school
-Christmas time
-Construction brake

I think my clientele are very spread among the working classes. I got gouv workers , but also independent workers , constructions , health ect …
Ottawa/gatineau offers a great “brochette” of clients and this makes the industry flourish.

I have also seen a difference in race diversity among my clientele lately.
Difference of culture.
I don’t mind skin colour so it just makes my clientele very diversified and interesting.

The economy is bad , but this business doesn’t seem to die. The oldest line of work still lives on

I probably saw more civil servants when I had an incall near the downtown and available for lunch hour quickies but my market has completely shifted since the pandemic and also diversified so I’m not personally impacted by this, in fact I didn’t know about it! Sorry you guys are facing a wage crunch, praying our economy isn’t further impacted by the orange crush down south 🙏🙏🙏

Apparently, Doug Ford is sending most of us $200 at the beginning of 2025 with a proclamation that it will 'immensely help all Ontarians in these challenging times'. Unfortunately, it may not do much for us 'Cuntarians', since $200 sure doesn't buy what it once did. 'I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I always was.'

It will fill up my gas tank a few times so I guess I should be grateful.
