It is only illegal for a third party to directly profit from another person's sexual services. That means taking a cut of earnings off the top. It's perfectly legal for sex workers to use their earned income to spend on anything that anyone else can, e.g. housing, food, entertainment, whatever. This includes work-related expenses like outfits, photo shoots, transportation, etc.

Is this true can someone confirm this?

Does that mean the CRA materially benefits through taxation of sex work? 😂
uhhhh....ya. A lot of SWers do their taxes and have been for decades. They materially benefit through crime as well. They don't care where it comes from...as long as you pay what you owe.

@speakercontrols to what ever SW reports the total for the year. Which is 20k/year?

@shane4 post #2 & #3 yes it is true.

For example:

1. If Alpha ( Landlord ) rents a unit to Beta ( Plumber ) to live in as resident. Beta Only pays for rent nothing more.
2. If Alpha ( Landlord ) rents a unit to Beta ( Plumber ) to live in as resident. Beta Only pays for rent nothing more Even if he runs his own business from there. Nor do you get a cut or commission of his earnings. You are not his / her God.
3. If Alpha ( Landlord ) rents a living unit to Beta ( Plumber ) to live / run their own self employed business in residential unit by you knowing. Beta Only pays for rent nothing more. As long as Beta is doing administration work only and not some kind of Machinery (cutting wood, staining furniture - it smells, or a catering (food) business). Even if you allow this to Beta to do because he is a family member for a 6 month trial period, you cannot get or collect money from him of any kind.

So if you take money from beta then you are a ...

Pimp. ? - a man who controls prostitutes and arranges clients for them, taking part of their earnings in return.
Mobster ? - a member of a group of violent criminals; a gangster.
Protection money ??? syndrome
Rescuer ?

I'm unsure what your question is? Is your question do sex workers make $20K a year? Doing the math, I know a few MPs that easily make $120K+ a year. I'm less familiar with the Escort business model but for those that host out of their homes, their overhead (and resulting sharing of expenses of the home for tax time) is significantly less than hotels.

There is no doubt an optimum amount of $ income to claim that gets you the most CPP/RRSP and other associated benefits. What it is, I have no idea since my income is not cash. I personally know a few that pay all the requisite taxes and with the CERB situation, I know a few that have started claiming income post-COVID.

And muddy the waters abit so its not so obvious
shrug, AFAIK, they can be completely open with the CRA about being an Escort since under the Nordic model in 2014, selling sex is NOT illegal, only buying it (that's us). Also, Sex Work has been recognized under contractual law. Moreover, the CRA does not care what you do for a living, as long as you pay your taxes. The Canada Revenue Agency tax code number for sex workers is #892100 which is also used by psychics, party planners and personal shoppers.

Yes your right the benefits. So it is to SW to claim 80 - 90 % of her income or stay at 100k/year. The their corp expenses can be covered an Outcalls too for gas.
Yeah I agree full or up 80% claim.
