Trudeau recently announced he's cutting the number of international student permits. Why? He's the one who increased them to begin with.

Same thing with immigration. He just announced he's cutting annual targets. Why did he increase them in the first place?

Why do you think he's backpedalling on so many of his signature policy decisions? There must be a reason.

sure there is a reason
the liberals took a big step to the left with Trudeau and implemented stupid ideologically driven policies without any due diligence or concern for unintended consequences,
And as we can clearly see now there are a lot of harmful unintended consequences.

it is ready shoot, aim policy formation
the work of an idiot who was never qualified for the job.

Canada will be burden by Trudeaus stupidity for generations

You're just making things up now.

Here's why your erroneous and fabricated made up shit doesn't past the smell test:

In 1966 there were 7.7 working-age individuals for every senior. This ratio has dropped quickly since then and stands at 3.4 in 2022. Statistics Canada projects this trend will continue in the decades ahead. There will be just 3.0 working-age people for each senior by 2027, after which the ratio will slowly fall further to reach 2.3 by 2068.

Justin Trudeaus policy mistakes are paying out as mistakes and that is an undeniable fact

already explained to you
WTF. Do you not read or do have a comprehension problem?

1966 was a completely different environment

why not pick 1913 when there was no personal income tax at all ?

it has been made quite clear to all Canadians they need to be responsible to fund their own retirement

it must be a shock to you when your nanny state tells you its your responsibility to cover your living expenses when you need to wear diapers once again.

WTF do you not understand about "it has been made quite clear to all Canadians they need to be responsible to fund their own retirement "

i suspect it is the ''responsibility' thing that has you so confused

again you are focused on who should be paying what % of the pie
when the real issue is the size of the pie

one in four employees are employed by govt in Canada
that is not sustainable in either the long term or the short term

the size of the pie (irresponsible govt spending/ borrowing ) has to be reduced

there will be a govt debt crisis long before 2068

WTF don't you understand?

Going off again in a head exploding survival of the fittest capitalist ideological rant does not address the crux of the immigration/jobs/economic future of Canada nor does it meld with the social compact accepted by and for society throughout the decades which is best exemplified by the following problem:

Seriously dude, you firmly belong in a world at the dawning of the Industrial revolution and not the world of today.

I have always found it interesting that if anybody suggested that immigration should be trimmed or adjusted in any way then the Liberals, the liberal media and the liberal fan boys (many on this site) would scream racism.
Following their never coherent logic, that would make Trudeau a racist now.

You do realize that we live in a world where debts have to be paid. You yourself seem to realize that we can't have 3 people supporting 1 person. That's common sense. You think that we can run a country on ideals. Trudeau thinks the same way. WE CAN'T!
There is alot of individuals who have their own "social compact" as you put it. Yours is not mine. Mine may not be the same as my neighbors but we do collectively have to pay for what we borrow.
Your "social compact" is not sustainable.
Things have to change. People have to stop relying on the government to feed them, burp them, and then wipe their ass for them.
As Kennedy said "ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country" And he was a Democrat! Fuck, times have changed. Everybody has their hand out.

Then, if you are a retiree or about to be and are over 65 or about to be you will as your post above suggests not have other people help support you?

That would mean you would forgo your CPP and OAS benefit payments.

My estimation would be that you would say, "Hell no!"

Welcome to society and your social compact with it.

wrong again on soooo many points

CPP is a segregated fund, solvent and projected to be solvent long into the future
OAS on the other hand is dependant upon sound financial stewardship of the governments finances. so it is at risk

you should be terrified by the fact your cherished 'social safety net' has been put at risk by irresponsible loonie left govt spending / borrowing

the best retirement plan is taking responsibility for your retirement financial needs.

me ? i learned long ago that you cant depend on govt
they make a bureaucratic mess of everything they touch

your approach is akin to re-arranging the deck chairs in the name of equality ........on the SS Titanic after striking the iceberg

you really need to start viewing issues via a pragmatic lens and stop letting a failed ideology do your thinking for you

that's the response of a spoiled child who refuses to learn anything

capitalist titan of industry, commerce and trade's economic theory requires good judgement and logical pragmatic independent thinking

being a loonie left ideologue stooge requires having a pulse and abandoning independent thought

ask yourself who will be more disappointed when govt fails to to take care of the loonie left ideologue stooges?
It wont be me

Canada surpassed a grim milestone recently. In one month, a record of over 2 million Canadians went to a food bank. This is not right. Nationally, food bank usage is up 90% since 2019 and now certain food banks are running out of food. Our people are starving and suffering in the street, but the government will still tell you that the Canadian economy is doing well.

The Canadian government continues to waste billions of dollars on useless initiatives, send billions of dollars to other countries and import millions of people into the country. This equation does not make sense.
