Gerrit Cole was born in the LA area. BUt his dad is from Syracuse and a staunch Yankees fan. Cole went to the 2001 World Series when he was 11. He was photographed with a sign "Yankee fan today tomorrow forever." He went home and forgot about the sign. But his parents kept it. When Cole signed with the Yankees in 2019, his parents pulled out the sign. He was shocked as hell. And did the only thing he could. He took the sign, weathered and battered, to his introductory press conference.

The Yankees wanted to sign him out of high school and were going to give him a 4 million dollar signing bonus...He declined opting to go to UCLA....Hmmm how much of a fan was he really?
His parents wanted him to get a degree in case baseball didnt pan out, which is why he declined the Yankees offer and went to UCLA, where, incidentally, he met his future wife

I drove around Syracuse for the first time on my way to New York City at the end of September. I pulled over in Syracuse on some residential side street and I took a nap in my vehicle. That was my first time being in Syracuse since 1988 to watch the Chiefs play. I must say, it’s quite surprising for a town of that small size to have so many homeless people and street hustlers. Also a number of people with mental health issues walking the streets. I always thought Syracuse was a little town where everyone had a white picket fence….. it was both sad and surprising.View attachment 370034 View attachment 370035

Freddie Freeman and his dad
Both of Freeman's parents are from Ontario, Canada. His mother was from Peterborough, while his father is from Windsor. Freeman holds Canadian citizenship in addition to American citizenship.

Such a cool photo. Kind of reminds me where Leaside plays in the Toronto league at Bayview/Eglington. The most historic Toronto league team plays in the shittiest park. There’s only a home run fence for half of the outfield. And it’s a short porch that goes up a little hill and goes onto Eglington in left field. In right field there’s absolutely nothing lol

I’ve spoken about this before here. That Cheetah energy drink was the absolute worst humiliating national pride, disaster of an ad campaign I have ever seen. I can’t believe Ben Johnson would ever do that.
Do you think Stanton is a cheater? He has spoken against the records held by Barry Bonds in the past because of his steroid use. Has anyone else ever noticed how Garrett Cole keeps rubbing his wrist and forearm of his left arm with his pitching hand when he pitches and rubs the baseball like pitchers usually do? And then he throws the most ridiculous hard knuckle curve with a 2 foot break drop….. I think Alek Manoah and Josh Donaldson both had it right about that guy.
