Disagree. It's more likely your awareness of "organized fashion" of it. As an example, High jacking planes (Entebee) requires a lot of organization.
My awareness of Islamic extremism was in the 1970s.
Not in North America, for the last decade its been white supremacists, incels and right wingers committing the atrocities.
If you look at wars as well then its not Muslims doing most of the attacking, you get Russia and the US more.
And now we have a new entrant this last year that is vying for the crown.
