The first rap song commercially released, September 1979, by The Sugar Hill Gang, as opposed to "underground" rap back in the late 70's, as far as I know...

This was the first commercially successful rap record but this one was recorded and released a few months earlier

OK ogibowt and gang. The first one on my funeral playlist is from the day I was born April 5, 1973. This was #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 at that date

More to come over the weekend.
A selection of others that will be played at my funeral/celebration of life

"Bulletproof Soul" by Sade

"Back to Life" by Soul II Soul

"In My Time of Dying" by Led Zeppelin

"I Saw the Light" by Todd Rundgren

The entire Off the Wall LP will be played at the wake as well. I'll post more later.

I used to go to à dance club in my younger days called Club Trocadero every friday night and they featured R & B songs, mostly slow sexy ballads so I spent most of my early times there learning how to dance to them, featuring groups like the Temptations, Chi Lites, Platters and many other singers. All i can say is i met some great sexy looking girls who knew how to grind to those great songs. LOL.
