I am a tech retard. Why would an escort want those responding to her ad through a WHATSAPP number rather than via text ?

End to end encryption. That's why. Text/SMS is unsecure 20+ year old technology, and easily traceable and interceptable.

WhatsApp and iMessage are fullly end to end encrypted. But not everyone has an iphone, but eveyone can use whatsapp if they install the app.

Could be encryption like some have stated but it also could be easier for them to retrieve the msg. If its' SMS/text and the provider doesn't have cellular data then she won't be able to get her msgs - but for Whatsapp she'd only need an internet connection/wifi connection to be able to retrieve those. If it works anything like telegram as well, she could even download a desktop app so it could be part of her office workflow.

Whatsup registers against one's cell number in the creation of an account. Each account is registered against a real cell phone. It doesn't work with those 'purchased' numbers. Perhaps a wired line. Don't know.

If I was an escort, I know 100% that MrBigCock is really 416-555-5555. And that's important for my personal safety.

All the encryption remarks really don't make sense. If I was an escort, I would keep business 100% the hell away from my civie life including phones. Besides if I was an escort, I am not breaking any laws. If I was an escort, encryption isn't my issue.

What are one's rights if WhatsUp never actually encrypted and everyone knows one is a degen? I suspect we all gave any rights away as we clicked accept as fast as we could.

BTW, how can someone figure out whether or not it’s a text app number?
I believe is a by doing a number carrier lookup. It will tell you if it belongs to any actual carrier or an app.

You don't even need the app. You can use what's app web and it does the basic things. Probably the app has some extra features that you won't need if you are just using it for texting.

No, you still need a phone #.

Multiple phones. Multiple WhatsApp accounts. The business accounts can be deleted quickly if need be.

Whatsapp works seamlessly both like a text messaging app and on wifi/internet. And in many countries regular text messages cost money, but Whatsapp messages are free so it gets used as the main texting app. And the encryption, if that is an issue, is very strong. Why an SP would use it I'm not sure, but it is like a text app with no borders so perhaps that is an appeal.

It is also linked to the IMEI of your phone, plus whatever actual number you use. So if you have to change your SIM and your number it is easy to continue with your same account as long as it is the same phone. And conversely, when you change your phone if you keep the number by putting the SIM in the new phone that also is easily accommodated.

So she can get responses through the cell network (like normal text messages) or through the internet say on wifi, which you can't do with normal texting.

In Europe Whatsapp is everywhere and it's way more common to see it in SP and Agency ads than an actual phone number, for all the reasons mentioned above.

I’ve often wondered why more SP’s don’t use iPhones to use iMessage and the related ease of use / encryption features mentioned above, instead of Android devices?

For me as a pooner I prefer to use iMessage for the same reasons.

Seniors love WhatsApp too. I would say that WhatsApp is the most popular social media type of platform out there.
