Petro Canada (Suncor) has notoriously bad with technology. This summer they got hacked and ALL their gas stations were shut down for a few days. Also, sometimes when I use my PetroCan App, the pump sometimes fails to initialize, even after pre-authorizing my associated credit card I use through Apple Pay . But they always issue a refund/credit immediately.
But I applaud them for leading the industry by bringing in as much technology as they can.
Generally not a fan of using McDonals, Timmie etc apps, but I do use and like the PetroCan app. I use it for my car wash credits etc.
Also, after having reviewed all the gas station loyalty programs, I like Petro Points the best. When I pay with my RBC Visa that I have "registered" with Petropoints, I get 3 cents per litre discount automatically and something like 50% more points . I recently registered my Canadian Tire loyalty account and I think there are more bonus' with it. And while I don;t like the non-stop assault on email promos, (like Canadian Tire!) Petro Points only send me an email with easy to use offers if I click to register.
I redeem the points for pre-paid 6 Wash and Go car washs. And it is always their top line service, Ultimate or whatever. I wait until there is a bonus offer with Wash-and-Go reloads and then I use points to buy them. Works out to under $7 per wash. And it includes a free vacuum credit with each wash. So another $2 value. And it is on the app.
