The other day was the 46th anniversary since WKRP first aired. So many great episodes and lines from that show. No way it would have made it to regular tv these days. And of course there was Bailey and Jennifer.

BOOGGGGGGGGGGGGGER!!!!!!!!!!

The rumour I read years ago was the wife of the CBS President hated the show. She kept trying to get her husband to cancel it. The problem for him is the show was doing well in the ratings, so he wouldn't be able to justify cancelling it. In a situation where a network wants to get rid of a show, but can't cancel it, they will keep moving the timeslot for the show. The rationale is people will get tired of folowing the show from time slot to timeslot, and simply stop watching it. WKRP lated 4 years(90 episodes) and actually became more popular once it went into syndication after it's original run.

Trivia question: What was the first song they played after the format was changed to a Rock station?

Just by coincidence, during the 2nd year of the show there was a tragedy in Cincinnati at a concert involving the rock group the Who. 11 people were killed with 26 injured. General admission seating was identified as a main cause. The producers and writers later made a WKRP episode that covered this, and it was done in a very tasteful manner that balanced comedy with the seriousness of the issue. It was the 19th episode of the series titled "in concert". If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

After all these years I just realized that the WKRP call sign is W crap. Sometimes I'm a little slow on the uptake.

Loved Bailey...hold me closer tiny dancer.

Some of the cast members were fans of The Who, is this the first song Johnny Fever ever played?

I never watched this show much, but I remember one episode from when I was a kid where Johnny Fever was fascinated by his hand -- I think he was tripping on acid. Is my memory correct?

Bailey was an innocent nymph.

That has to be from the episode where Mr Carlson told her to be more assertive. Cost cutting was underway, the staff had to justify their job.

I don't remember the first song Johnny Fever played, I do remember Venus Flytrap playing this.

I forget the song, but I remember that Dr Johnny Fever went from depressed and sad playing "middle of the road" junk to happy and jiving as soon as he spun that first rock disc!!
