My comments “I think his current problem is having been treated as “special” by everyone around him. It would not surprise me if he actually believes the “poor me” nonsense he is currently spewing. My initial reaction when I saw the bodycam footage of Tyreek Hill’s detainment by Miami-Dade Police was simple: here we go again. There are certain players who can’t get out of their own way. They are always in trouble. And it’s always someone else’s fault. Let’s be clear: this whole incident was brought on by Tyreek. If you break the law, if you do something dumb, have a little bit of respect and humility..

If you screw up, if you drive recklessly without your seatbelt on, then - at a bare minimum – approach the officer with courtesy and roll your window down. If you don't do that? If you resist? Tyreek Hill was an asshole. The cop wasn't much better and should have de-escalated the situation... but again, Tyreek Hill was a fucking asshole.

I'd love to see how Japanese police deal with their superstars.

In this specific case, pretty much everything Hill did after being stopped was reasonable and covered by the 4th amendment. Yes, he could have been more polite but being short with the cops is legal. According to a couple legal analysis I watched, there is no law in Florida that you need to keep your window rolled down and the only justification that could be used is officer safety. Considering they had already identified him, seen inside the car, had his ID, and a half dozen copes were on the scene the safety justification is very weak.

The cop clearly has issues and like Hill, he has a history including multiple suspensions.

Doesn't matter if the person they pull over is a soccer mom or a mass murderer, unless they know who the person is, in advance, there is no need to assume that they should be treated like the latter. All they had initially was someone who had allegedly commited a simple driving infraction. Then they saw a young black man, and probably decided to ramp it up, because, well, cops. There was no indication that he was a danger, and there was no reason for them to treat him like that. His own personal history has no bearing on this.

Are you happy that a cop with repeated issues with rage and unnecessary force could be reinstated? You sound like Ford, against unions and their overpowered protections for incompetence while also supporting the powerful protections violent cops get.

And there is a huge difference here. Hill is paid to play football; him being an ass off the field only interferes with business because of PR and marketing. A cops job is to protect the public so repeated issues where they do the opposite is a huge issue.

There was no justification for him to keep the window down once he handed the cops his ID unless the cop thought that being a young black man in an expensive car posed a threat to officer safety.

He doesn't need a justification. The Land of the Free has a constitution and well established case law about traffic stops.
