The parents appear to be taking this seriously which is a good sign. It sounds like this kid has some special needs; hopefully they can place him in some sort of program with appropriate support and supervision.

Thats how mass murders start .
It seems to be a key ingredient. I'm not sure if it is a lack of empathy towards a creature for the pain you cause or a sick enjoyment of seeing discomfort particularly as you yourself is inflecting it.

Probably all of the above. It makes them feel powerful and in control.

I would disagree. Seems like lip service to me. They seem more concerned about people’s reactions to the matter then severity of the situation.

The parents knew there was a problem long before this kid started torturing and killing animals. This behaviour doesn’t just start over night.

This is not a weekly therapy thing, this is a long term impatient treatment thing, if treatment is even possible.

Thankfully members of the community got involved or this kid could keep doing this until they graduated to killing humans.

I’m not saying the parents are “bad” parents that caused this. Usually it is a combination of medical imbalances and environmental causes, but you can’t tell me they didn’t know something was seriously wrong with their kid before this and I believe if they were trying to treat this kid before this, they would have stated something, even in a small part, something about treating him prior to this. But they didn’t say anything. Instead it was all about what people in the community would think and do.

When one line is about the things the kid did and the rest is about other people, it doesn’t seem like they are taking this seriously enough at all and are more just going through the motions now that this is come to public light.

He should be on probation immediately and be monitored. One more bad move against animals or people and he should be locked up for life or accidentally shot while resisting arrest. He is a ticking time bomb. And he IS going to harm humans in the future.

To me, it sounds like the family are reacting to an avalanche of online threats to their son. We don’t know what efforts the family have made up until now to access support for their son. They are trying to protect him from being harmed which I understand- as a family they are trying to do the task of balancing the needs of the f the community vs the needs of their son.

So to prevent him from harming others he should be preemptively executed? I would hope there would at least be a trial of some sort.

We will have to agree to disagree. I get they are trying to protect their son but I don’t think they have done enough to protect the community from their son. Not at all.

At 16 years old he knows PERFECTLY well what he’s doing. Look at the 15 and 16 yr olds charged with 1st degree murder in the tow truck murders.
This scum criminal WILL kill a human eventually.
Lock the scum up and throw away the key!
Better yet, execute the scum at dawn!

La la land
There was a crime long time ago in the US.
He was released last year after 28 years of rehab. It is a wait and see game.

Definitely a psychopath and high chance of a serial killer in the making.

His name should be released to the public.

I can't understand how a teenager could even think this unless they are a psychopath.

At 16, I was working a part-time job, hanging with friends, smoking a little bit of weed and trying to hook up with girls.

There was a 16 year old boy in Vancouver decades ago who beat 3 flamingos to death with a golf club. No idea where he found flamingos in Vancouver, but anyway it was in the paper.
He got sent to the Willingdon youth detention center on remand. He escaped. When he was recaptured and asked why, he said the other prisoners were picking on him.
What were they doing you ask?
He said they kept standing on one leg and staring at him accusingly.
Anyway. I didn't make that up, and anyway kids who abuse animals should be flogged.

So…..we have gang bangers running around shooting into crowds, but the Cops spend their time dealing with this.
