Except now the Governor of California is in agreement and laughing about it. So once again enjoy the gaslighting but everyone sees it. Hence the "backlash" which is really "don't say the quiet part outloud".
So what, exactly, do you think he "admitted" here?

I already pointed ut out. Really Val, you need to start reading and comprehending posts before commenting on them.
So he "admitted" that your exact interpretation of what happened is real?
How convenient.

You should post the clip. Second hand accounts can be influenced by visceral responses.

Fox News no doubt has a large audience*, but I think the entire media itself paints everything like a team sport. There have been articles and polls that demonstrate most Americans have more nuanced political beliefs than the two parties and the middle is much larger than portrayed. From my vantage point, you get about 30% of the left and 30% of the right pulling in their direction. Of course, they are attracted to certain news outlets and disparage others.

Most of the Americans I know watch a variety of news channels and read some print newspapers or websites.

* The Fox News audience doesn't have the influence the three major TV networks had forty years ago
I understand your point of view on this, but I don't share it, especially about it being not influenctial.

First, let's look at the typical Fox viewer. To grossly simplify it, a majority of them are seniors, or older Americans and conservative. The issue here is that studies show that Fox tends to be their primary source of news. That means, they hear the same bullshit repeated day in and day out. Now, this core audience distrusts MSM, partly because Fox keeps telling them how wrong channels like NBC, CBS, ABC or the New York Times/Washington Post are....and point out the stuff they don't cover. So, while Fox might be currently banging on the gong that Tim Walz is a secret Chineses agent, the fact that the other media ignores it SHOWS how corrupt they are or that they are Dem mouth-pieces....

The reality here is that these viewers vote, and vote GOP. They (not all) tend to believe conspiracy theories and outright refutable bullshit. That matters. They tend to vote against their interests because they don't hear the other side of the argument, unless you count whatever air time Tarlov gets on The Five.

Finally, I will point out that even the most left-wing of channels, which we can probably agree is MSNBC, is basically centrist when you compare it to Fox's opinion side.

The end result here is a huge group of voters who literally only hear curated bullshit from the right, while slamming anything from the left. They are categorically less informed than nearly any other group. They are more likely to share conspiracy theories on Facebook or other social media.
