Can a DUI charge be forgiven? I think it can if it doesn't happen again. People make mistakes. But then his campaign lied about 10 years later, and actually blamed military injuries for it.

That imo is not taking accountability for your actions, and a bad sign.
RNC has been consulting with Harry Turtledove on selling alternative history. Some of the people who know the actual facts are either dead or toe the party line...

I think you need Rudi to visit the computer shop and discover Walz's secret laptop.
The DUI won't make a good enough scandal.

Butler 1000, do you forgive Scott Moe for committing vehicular manslaughter?
Really? There is a grand canyon between someone dying and not dying. Especially 30 years ago when it's was looked a differently. Same as pot charges 30 years ago vs today.

Tim was very lucky he didn't harm someone. And from all appearances no repeat. Buy don't lie about it. Own it and let the chops fall

Looks like he owned it in 2018, well before getting the green light for VP so what is your issue? Do you have any issues with JD Vance?

"Walz has subsequently acknowledged the facts of the case, admitting during his 2018 campaign for governor of Minnesota that he had been drinking and driving."

Good. But now that he is a national candidate he comes up Der national scrutiny right?

You do think voters have the right to know right?

Is it hidden?? What else would you like them to say? Do you want them at the beginning of a rally for Walz to come on the mic and apologize for his indiscretion of 30 years ago? Would that make you happy? So tell me, is JD as pure as freshly fallen snow?

He tried to hide it for 12 years until he got busted for it. He has to own the cover up.

So what you are saying is Scott Moe should be forgiven his vehicular peccadillo while Tim Walz should be on death row, exemplary logic.

What are you talking about? What I said was, the cover up is always worse than the crime. Tim Walz chose not to own this when he ran for Congress. It was re-released in 2018, when he finally admitted due to evidence presented, not because he chose to.

As for Scott Moe he is a piece of shit for doing it. For whatever ever reason the charges were dropped. But the real point in this context is VOTERS KNEW when they wen into the polling booths. That's it. And they could choose to weigh that to their vote.

Just as right now voters CAN CHOOSE to weigh that in a vote for Harris/Walz because they now have that information, on a national level. They don't have to, they can ignore. That is their choice.

But you, Squeezer, or anyone else don't have the right to say it shouldn't be talked about. Its fair game.

Clearly the convicted felon and rapist is the moral choice if Harris' VP choice had a DUI 12 year ago.
Wow, that was close.

He's admitted to it, that's it. It's over! DONE! Worry about Trumps up and coming cases, especially if he loses in November.

But again. It wasn't known nationally, was it? Now it is. And people can choose whether or not to use it.

And please don't say it doesn't matter. Considering how far back People go back on Trump (1970's) and never stop bringing it up, unless you are vowing to never bring up Trump's past again, and will defend Trump by stating the same to all other posters, it's fair game.

I have no issues with criticism of Trump. Post as you please.

Why are you so afraid of scrutiny?

The scrutiny is unfair for a man who hasn't done it again and even has given up alcohol. Yet you want to compare him to TRUMP'S past? Really??? Give your head a shake man.

I've been hoping the right wing would go back to trying to hype this attack line.
They floated it immediately after he was named, but switched to the "Stolen Valor" one because I guess they thought it was more promising. Since that didn't work as well as they like, and "he is racist against whites because he joked about not liking spices" is just making them the butt of jokes, they have circled back to the DUI.

Oh no! You can never forgive a DUI! is a deeply stupid approach, obviously.
No one is going to buy that as disqualifying.

I get they are going to try and pitch the "But he didn't admit it in his first run" and who knows, suckers and idiots will be swayed by that.
With enough media amplification, it might work.

The problem is this is literally part of his story of getting sober.
I think most people are going to see the story of someone getting their life right after fucking up and be pretty sympathetic.
