Does anyone on TERB have really good experiences with Public Mobile?

They offer 5G Canada-US Plans for $39/monthly. The onboarding process, so far, has been very bad.

I ordered a Physical SIM card on their website as my phone doesn't take eSIM. It never arrived in the mail. Public has no retail stores or a Call Centre. If you need help, you have to use an Online Forum.

After spending 2 hours going back and forth with Customer Service over Chat, and having to show the agent my Order Confirmation from my e-mail, Public finally located my order.

My choices are to have the SIM card re-sent (and hope it actually shows up this time), or schlep myself to a Telus Corporate Store, pay another $10 for a Public SIM Card, actually activate a plan ($$), and then send Proof of Purchase to the same guy I've been talking to and then he will Credit me $10.

I chose to have the SIM card resent; but at this point, I'm second guessing actually switching my cellphone over to Public.

I have Public mobile and it is great. I had no problems signing up and I have the exact plan that you are referring to. I was able to use an esim card as my phone is relatively new.

I am going to upgrade to a Samsung S24. I bought it directly from Samsung and I actually got it on Sale for a better price than Financing through the carrier.

The S24 supports eSIM; but I want to hold on to my TCL 20 Pro, which supports 5G Bands but does not support eSIM, so I need the SIM Card if I want to switch between the phones at will.

I'll give Public another chance; I've got a good $40 BYOD Plan through Bell, but Bell wants to jack the price by 15% starting in September. If anything, maybe Bell will give me a sweet winback offer.

I think right now is close to the trough of cell plan pricing, it fell by a large amount over the past year or two. Going forward, pricing will probably go up for the triopoly of telcos.

I signed up with PM maybe 8 months ago, so far service has been good. I have their $34 for 40GB plan, prior to that I was paying about the same for 4GB through Zoomer, a Rogers sub brand.

I would suggest the OP just stick it out with PM, their $39 plan is a great deal for what it offers. PM has currently has the best deal that is available without jumping through additional hoops. If you talk the the telco customer service you might be able to get a better deal, I heard Bell was doing ~$35 for 120GB of data.

Got the same deal. It's a good phone with handy AI features I use for work.

I use Freedom. I actually paid $50 to switch to a holiday plan when it was available:

I'm usually using local WiFi so I seldom get anywhere near 5 GB. I deal with the US a lot so the unlimited calls is nice.

Public Mobile is owned ty Telus and Lucky Mobile is owned by Bell. I have had both and I had no issues with either of them.
Have you thought of just getting a virtual number? I use OpenPhone for that and it's great

Can you use your number from a physical SIM and transfer it somehow to an eSim and swap between the two if needed. I have two phones, sometimes I prefer the smaller one when traveling other times I prefer the bigger one when I'm local.
