He pulled Acosta's press credentials at one point. For being too much of an ass. I actually think he was wrong to do it. It goes with the job. But yes Dave is well beyond exaggerating on this point. Trump always faced the press. Cripes he liked it

If you think these are required to show you are up to the job, surely you must be demanding that Trump do an unscripted 90 minute press conference to show he is capable.
He didn't ban the free press.
He didn't do many press conferences except in that last year during COVID. Of course, those went so badly for him his team made him stop doing them.
That's a press briefing from the White House.
That's not Trump going and doing press conferences.
Those are separate things.
It nonetheless seems inconsistent with the claim that Trump always faced the press.
Trump did his "chopper talk" bits on the regular.
His Administration stopped doing press briefings.
He himself did about 10 or so solo press conferences over his first three years - never in prime time. (He then did a bunch during COVID until he stopped because they made him look so bad.)
