I don't believe that anyone who doesn't like Trump or Republicans already will suddenly vote for them if Biden stays on.

I think they would rather not vote for anyone rather than being forced to vote for Biden. Which will help Trump.

Bringing in a new Dem candidate could motivate those supporters that have given up to vote for the new person. Or make it appear that the party is scrambling and in tatters and solidify what Reps have been saying about Biden all along, which can also help Trump.

Or Dems can vote for Biden to avoid Trump coming back, and then have him step down if he wins and replace him after the fact?

But the unknown variable here is how much will Biden stepping down help or hurt the Dems overall in the upcoming election.
I think you're 100% right. It's a risk either way. I agree that folks aren't going to vote for Trump instead of Biden, they just might not vote. But....the revelation of Project 2025 could put the apathetic in Biden's camp...

The Heritage Foundation has been around since the 70's. There are hundreds of similar think tanks across all political stripes that come up with "projects". They all have people affiliated with political parties.
The Dems have just been pushing this narrative as a means to demonize the Rep's again.

Trump would be best to distance himself as far away from this as possible.

I know nothing about Project 2025. I have no idea who is behind it. I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal. Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them. Donald Trump Truth Social 11:29 AM EST 07/05/24

Democrats have a big legal, political, and financial problem on their hands. They can’t get rid of Joe Biden, even though he is incapable of doing the job required from the President of the United States. Will Democrats skip over the first Black and first female vice president because they know that Kamala Harris would lose in a landslide against Trump? Democrats' lawfare backfired against Trump, and now their entire electoral strategy is crumbling.
