For the first time ever, the LCBO store employees have gone on strike as talks have broken down.

Hope you drinkers have stocked up on your hard liquor! (beer and wine you can purchase else where)

I view this as a great reason to start digging into the more obscure things sitting in our bar.
All the flavoured creams etc.

Then as another alternative make up iced Sangria's to beat the heat with some cheap wine sourced from the local Wine Rack, or Loblaws locations.

Ahhh the joys of living in a small town. I just go to the corner store and buy it their.
Corner stores don't go on strike.

but how can you by booze without a highly paid government employee there to scan the barcode?!
LCBO Convenience Outlets
LCBO Convenience Outlets, which are located in communities where there isn’t “reasonable access” to an LCBO store, remain operational.

Many options to get your fix

Only a dysfunctional economy would have in essence a monopoly organization that is beholden to a workforce that has the power to strike and shut down operations. Now we know why Ford was pushing for liquor sales in other outlets.

Most of the LCBO retail staff could be replaced by Self Checkout machines. Position 2 burly security guards at the doors and you have a more effective system. Retail staff just stand
and watch as people steal bottles. I have seen it many times and customers curse out the staff just watching theft after theft.

You can still order on line. Home delivery is ~ $12 + tax.

I heard that the LCBO began moving product out of their warehouse into private warehouses well in advance, knowing that the Union would blockade the LCBO warehouse. If true, this could be viewed as an attempt by the LCBO to bust the Union.

I also read an account by a guy whose father is a raging alcoholic, and who will get the tremors if he goes a few hours without a drink. His father's tolerance for alcohol is so high, that beer and wine won't do the trick; he needs hard liquor. He is desperately trying to find a source of it; otherwise, his Dad is probably going to end up in the Hospital or dead.

They aren't trying to bust the union. They don't want to have issues getting trucks in and out to keep supply of booze flowing.
Both sides don't want the cops or courts involved. LCBO could very easily get a court order to free access to warehouse. But neither side wants that.

Employees have orders not to get involved. It's the same at every retail store.

This is what kills. They are easily the highest paid retail employees in the Country, never mind the province, with the most perks. It was even crazier how much more they made then other retail workers in the 90's and 00's.

NOBODY GIVES A SHIT ABOUT YOU. Your fucking retail employees. Your not saving lives or do anything more special then someone that works and Shopper Drug Mart. They had such a monopoly on the market and had it so good for so long. Bloody ridiculous.
