I looked up the name and it seems he's from Tibet. I could only think that the victim is maybe Chinese. But for sure he's a nut that needs to be locked up or deported. .

A 33-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection to a hate-motivated attempted murder investigation after a woman was set on fire in a random attack at Kipling Station in Etobicoke on Friday.

According to police, there was an interaction between a man and a woman onboard a TTC bus at the station before 12:30 p.m. on Friday.

The man allegedly poured flammable liquid on the woman and then set that substance on fire.

The victim suffered life-threatening and life-altering injuries. No update on her condition has been provided.

Tenzin Norbu, 33, of Toronto is facing multiple charges, including attempted murder, assault with a weapon, common nuisance and mischief charges.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday.

The shocking incident is the latest in a string of brazen violence that has occurred at TTC stations in recent months, prompting concerns from riders and calls for officials to implement more safety measures.

Mayor John Tory says he is working closely with Toronto police and with the TTC in the wake of the incident to find ways to improve safety for riders.

The TTC tells CityNews they will be putting more constables in stations but did not offer a timeline as to when that would occur.

Officers say they believe this is an isolated incident and there’s no ongoing concern for the public.

Anyone with information about what happened is asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.

On June 17, 2022, Norbu got on a TTC bus in downtown Toronto carrying a bag, and approached a woman he did not know, 28-year-old Nyima Dolma, according to the court's agreed statement of facts.

He asked her if she was Tibetan, and when she said she was, he reached into his bag for a jar of lighter fluid, which he then poured on Dolma before using a lighter to ignite her clothes, the court documents said. Dolma's body was badly burned and she suffered injuries from smoke inhalation.

She was taken to hospital, where she died 18 days later.
What's wrong with the justice system here?

Some guys break into your house at night and try to steal shit, damage your house in the process.
You come down with a bat, beat one of them into submission and hold him until police show up.

YOU ARE ARRESTED AND CHARGED.

It is not a justice system. It is a legal system.

Right call. He's totally nutso!

He gets locked up at CAMH for a couple of decades instead.
People seem to think the person is just let go and they move on with their life.

They are not. They are held in a hospital. Which sometimes is worse than jail. Depending on the hospital and staff. The meds you are put on. What type of episodes you have, etc.

All because of the word "reasonable", such bullshit, it should be simple. If someone is breaking into my place, I'm not going to go through a beating second by second and analyze when "is enough" and that I should stop.
Don't break into my place, there wouldn't be this predicament.
I don't watch TV, no cable, no mainstream stuff. I don't need to pay for a monthly hype-man and get scared into whatever it is they want me to be scared of and take/buy whatever product it is their trying to sell, 2020 is a great example. 🤣

This is the one that I heard of through a friend and on here, didn't follow up, because I didn't see anything about it or hear about it. Thank fuck it worked out for him.

Yes, but the problem is these places have a lot of patient-inmates and too few psychiatrists. In many instances, they slip through and get released too soon, thus relapsing and committing more heinous crimes, for which they are found (again) not criminally responsible...And the cycle continues.

That article from the NP mentions that the homeowner shot at the intruders. Regardless of what is happening, that is illegal. I'm sure if he broke the guy's legs with a bat he wouldn't be charged with attempted murder. Even if you are a registered gun owner, you can't shoot someone, regardless of what happens. This isn't the United States.
