Curious about our pool here in the GTA/Ontario who are clients. Fun poll to get an idea of our fellow hobbyists.

Great question, to ensure we are playing in the same sand box, kindly provide the definition and examples you think is relevant, and if possible try to ensure your definition and examples can be reference from a reliable source.

The following are 2 definitions from dictionaries, the first being Oxford

the fact of belonging to a particular ethnic group (= a group of people that share a cultural tradition)

  • Many factors are important, for example class, gender, age and ethnicity.

noun, plural eth·nic·i·ties.

  • an ethnic group; a social group that shares a common and distinctive culture, religion, language, or the like: Representatives of several ethnicities were present.

  • ethnic traits, background, allegiance, or association:

As your list mostly covers geography, which can mean that All Canadians can be referred to as one ethnic group.

Also have to be careful to distinguish between ethnicity and race . And here again one has to be careful as , there is also confusion with culture,, etc.

As can be seen I have a challenge with language and it’s ambiguity.

I could be European and black.

Or Asian but French birth.

I think your survey should be changed to ...

- Which continent are you from?
- Born here (Canada) parents from which continent?
- Born here (Canada) parents mixed different Continents?

According to 23andMe, my DNA analysis says I'm:

99.4 % European/Ukrainian, being an Ashkenazi Jew @ 98.5%, plus 0.9% French & German

0.3 % East Asian, including Northern Asian and Siberian

0.2% Western Asian & North African, including North African, Northern West Asian, and Iranian, Caucasian, & Mesopotamian

0.1% Unassigned

And, as far as my Neanderthal Ancestry, I have less Neanderthal variants than 81% of their clients. :geek:

I have been here for more than 2 generations.
So why is there not an ethnically Canadian?
I am not trying to discount indigenous Canadians.
But how many generations do you have to be to consider yourself Ethically Canadian?

Good point, but my goal was to get more of a racial poll. Regardless of whether you're 1st or 5th generation 'Something-Canadian' , I wanted to just see what everyone was :)

Kindly explain why a single skin colour is in the mix, and it is yes -white.

Also the word “ causation”, is often misused by the so called whites.

Per the original false intended usage the following was the intended label’s meaning from one reference, however, it is a widely accepted fact that it does not mean folks with “white” skin.

. "[Caucasian] is actually a 19th-century anthropological idea that was based around a false conception that the origin of the human species was in the Caucasus Mountains."

Apologies , correction per above should be ‘ Caucasian’ not ‘causation’
