Anybody here try those so called "last minute vacation" deals? I am looking at sites like tripcentral.ca. Escapes.ca sell of vacations(ads on TV a few years ago) etc.

I am thinking of going during June and July during "off seasons" and

I see SPs going to sun vacations on twitter and Instagram and I feel the urge to go to those destinations.

An example I posted on my twitter

Voltage in Cuba

Cuban plugs and sockets follow the American model with two legs (A type). Generally, voltage is 110V/60Hz, although some hotels (usually in the bathrooms) also feature 220V and rounded leg sockets for European plugs (C type). It is advised to ask in the hotel before arriving, in case you need to have an adaptor.

.

In Cuba the supply voltage is 110/220V. If the appliance or its power supply are not dual voltage rated, the single voltage appliance will have to be used alongside a voltage transformer or converter to allow the appliance to work safely and properly (unless the appliance operates at 110V or 220V). If this is not the case it should be used alongside a voltage transformer or converter to allow the appliance to work safely and properly.

Mexico Voltage

Electricity in Mexico is the same as in the U.S. and Canada, 110 Volts, 60 Cycle. You do not need a transformer or converter. Some older places may not have 3 hole ground receptacles with ground so you might want to bring one of those inexpensive adapters that go from a 3 prong plug to a 2 hole receptacle.

One of my favorite fun facts about Mexico plug types is they’re the same as what you’ll find throughout Canada and the United States. All three North American countries use Type A and Type B plugs, which are almost the same except for one small but important difference.

Type A plugs are designed with two flat prongs, while Type B has two flat prongs plus a circular pin. This means that while you can use a Type A plug with both kinds of outlets, Type B plugs can only be used with Type B outlets. Type A plugs are more versatile and make it easier to find and use compatible electrical outlets in Mexico.

Another important factor to consider when planning for the standard type of power outlet in Mexico is frequency and voltage. Fun facts about Mexico power outlets: the standard frequency is 60 Hz, which is the same in Canada and the United States.

As far as voltage in Mexico, the typical range for standard Mexico electrical outlet types is between 110 to 120 volts. This is common among all North American countries, so you shouldn’t have any issues plugging electronics into power outlets in Mexico.

Dominican Republic

For Dominican Republic there are two associated plug types, types A and B. Plug type A is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and plug type B is the plug which has two flat parallel pins and a grounding pin. Dominican Republic operates on a 120V supply voltage and 60Hz.

La la land
I have and got lucky.
Don't go to validate your ego. You will never be happy.
Go for the Adventure or journey. It is more fun. IT will help find your self.

I like to travel, so I never had a bad experience in a last minute deal.

I love everything about Cartagena.
Seriously. The food, the women are gorgeous and if you go, check out the Rosario islands for a couple of days. Breathtaking place to go snorkeling.

I have been down south probably 30 times now.

Cuba my best places is Santa Maria. Because they have the most beautiful beaches. But since covid it seems cuba is lacking everything. And even scamming tourists. I am avoiding for now.

I like Dominican Republica. punta cana is great with kids. Alone... Nah. Cabarete is better even if the beaches are brownish... Loved the vibe there. The restaurant and clubs on the beach.

Mexico i am a big fan of the west coast. The mountains and the see makes it for beautiful views. The waves are great if you surf! Rivera Maya as some amazing beaches and so much activities to do or partying. Just avoid Cancun itself. Biggest problem now are the seaweed. They are often present now and you may end up not being able to enter the ocean at all :(

The most beautiful island I've been is Guadeloupe. Especially the south.

I loved Aruba and Barbados. Rent condos and car to move all around.

Avoid resorts in cancun unless it's Club Med. Go to Isla Muyeres or Hol box instead. If you want to stay close to airport because its amazing swimming in the 1 hour after landing go to Puerto Morelos. The all inclusive hotel Jade is the best but you can also rent a condo in the village.

Is the Riviera Maya south of Cancun better?

Like this one.

Yes, Riviera Maya is better than Cancun. But I would not recommend the Bahia Principe. It's a huge resort... too big and the quality of the beach is not that great. And it's a huge family resort.

If you travel alone I would recommend going to adult only resort because those are the resorts single women will go to ;) And there are many of them believe me!

I liked the Barcelo Maya Place. Even if for the beach you ideally need to walk to their other resort, which are side by side, to have the best beach. Plus you can walk across the street in front of the resort to go to a natural Cenote.

Heard some good about Catalonia Royal Tulum.

I also like a lot the Jade in Puerto Morelos (and only 10 min from the airport).

But if it was me traveling alone, and if I was younger haha, I would chose one very close to Playa Del Carmen. This way you can enjoy some night in this young vibrant and crazy city.

If you are willing to spend more $$ I would highly suggest going to Club Med. There is one in Cancun. They were the first resort in Cancun so they took the absolute best spot just on the outskirt of the city, so you are still far enough from Cancun.

Or my best Club Med Turkoise! The Club Med resort never really has the best rooms or a lot of the design of other resorts. But the food is unbeatable. People go to Club Med for activities and sports and at a Club Med everyone participates. So you meet a lot of people. Plus at a Club Med it is perfectly normal to ask to join a table at the buffet to eat your meals. So you easily mix with others. Most of the clientele is from Europe and never was I refused to join a table to eat my meal.

In my 30's I also got lucky 3 times at Club Med in one week! 3 staff girl. One I was eating with her at breakfast when she said she came here to get laid but was unlucky so far.. Haha I did not missed that opportunity and we boum boum right before her shift every day!
