Or worse lets say the guy lands a few good punches to the face and the perp falls, hits his head and dies, then the customer who tried to help, is now in deep shit.
The Great Hero tries to stop the perps and gets a bottle to the head. His face is lacerated for life or he dies with his throat cut on the floor of the LCBO store.

@ 0:18 someone yells "Back off, he has a knife". Is it worth someone life to save a few bottles? I will bet you the cops gave him shit.
They have the perps faces on video. I will bet you they have been identified. They look like tambourine tappers.

77M shoplifting theft is a very small percentage considering they netted 2.54 Billion in 2022, that's 3% as losses due to thievery.

In criminology, the broken windows theory states that visible signs of crime, antisocial behavior, and civil disorder create an urban environment that encourages further crime and disorder, including serious crimes.[1] The theory suggests that policing methods that target minor crimes such as vandalism, loitering, public drinking and fare evasion help to create an atmosphere of order and lawfulness.

There are always 2 sets of doors in any lcbo I enter.
Install armoured glass.

Then just let one of the clowns get through one door on the way out, press a button and the outer doors lock, the inner door closes and locks.
Then just verify only the clown is in between the doors and release the Zyklon B and give all of society a favour, and rid us of a flake.

Where are those Indian guys with the big stick who pounded the shoplifter now that we need them?
It's infuriating.

One of the elements of broken glass theory was you prosecute small crimes. I was living in NYC when they instituted it and I recall when they did simple things like busting the turnstile jumpers (fare evaders) they found 10% of them had either weapons or warrants.
