So looking at all I spend on hobbying I have made a decision, once amonth I am going to pass on a session and send $240 to Operation Smile Canada, they do operations for kids born with cleff palete in 3rd world countries
$240=1 operation, so I less session with someone and help a kid instead

Not suggesting everyone can afford this or this is their chosen charity but my TERB challenge is giveup a session a month and donate to somewhere to help out if you can

Game on Terbites, hope to see lots of inspired comments

I give enough to the CRA. I'll pass.
Really? You had to make that comment on something someone is trying to do to help children born with a cleft palate try to look normal and not live with such a stigma?

I don't even have to see your face to know you are an ugly human being. You seem to have a splendid life or riches despite being ugly (and cheap) so I guess these third world kids can succeed being ugly too!

I made donations in the past to various international
organizations including World Vision, UNICEF and
Engineers Without Borders. I prefer to give my money
mostly to local hospitals and schools though. I believe
charity begins at home.

Pretty sure you get tax deduction on charity.
And for stupid selfish fugly braggarts who obviously have never given to charities, they can pay less to the CRA by giving to registered charities! Plus more of your donation gets used directly to good works of your. own choosing, rather than tax money being wasted at every step along the way to whatever 'Trudope' wants to spend it on.

But selfish simple minded people don't think through things. Just ME, ME, ME...MINE, MINE, MINE!

Every year I reassess and usually roll off one organization for every new one I take on. I try to stick to a budget so I can set plan and set aside funds so when someting touches me, I don;t have to think if I can afford it. And that way I get the tax credits

Although I just kicked in $125 to Umar Zameer's legal fund. Not tax deductible but that family needs all the help they can get to try to recover.

I wasn't sure if it was a QC or a Canada tax deduction. Thanks for the clarification.

I am getting in the challenge too. I will give 200$ per month to a charity of my choice. Good idea @yababy1.

Upon discovering that one provider I saw was a racist cunt, I gave serious thought to donating the amount I had spent on our two sessions to BLM and any charities that helped people in India since she hated black and Indian people.

Here is an example of how a kid who doesn't quite fit in can be bullied to death. Poor girl, just wanted to be friends. I know a (now) beautiful highly intelligent woman who was a bit of an ugly duckling who was bullied as a little girl because she had big ears. Kids called her Dumbo. She is still lacking in self confidence and while I reconginze her as being incredibly intelligent, never reached her potential because the particluar name Dumbo came to the mind of some little asshole in a split second. She is quite accomplished as a dental hygeinist but could have been a dental surgeon had she the confidence.

I'd hate to have to live with a hare lip/cleft palate in some third world country where some ppl might think you are a devil or some other such religious nonsense.

New miniseries delves into the murder of Victoria's Reena Virk

'This affects real people'
Former Vancouver Sun reporter Neal Hall, who covered the case as it was unfolding, says Virk's death was a "cruel and senseless crime."

"[This] poor girl [was] seeking acceptance by this group of girls...and she didn't fit in, she was an outsider and they just beat her and ended up killing her," he said in an interview with CBC's Early Edition last month.

Yes you do but it's only 17% of the amount contributed up to $250 and then 29% for anything above that amount. Before 1988 all charitable donations were a 100% write off.
And as an aside to this, all political party donations are a 100% write off. Go figure.

Thought they were a sliding scale? Smaller amounts at 75 percent credit with larger amounts at a smaller percentage (which is the opposite of charitable donations).

also - I like OP post. Buddy, I’ll give 240 for that. Thanks.

Nope no sliding scale these days for charitable donations. I think there was at one time before 1988 where up to a certain dollar value it was 100% deductible and then a sliding scale. Can thank Brian Mulroney & the PCs for changing it in 1988.
