Anyone remember “The Bronze Rail” strip joint? Circa mid 90’s, it didn’t last long .

It was pretty much next door to the “Zanzibar “
Yes, the Bronze Rail was a lot more classy than the Zanzibar. Anyone remember the original Upfront Lounge on Eastern Ave? One of the first strip bars in Toronto, there were no private VIP rooms, just gorgeous girls dancing on a stage and guys sitting in a row of seats. Another was the original House of Lancaster on the corner of University and Wellington St. in an office tower. I went inside the tower to visit an office and while waiting for an elevator, two old women came out of another door and one said to the other, There Are Naked Girls In There. Later I walked in that door and saw topless waitresses serving there and a stage set up as a boxing ring with strippers dancing. No vip rooms but that was my go to spot for some time. Later the H of L opened on the Queensway west and became a real hot strip joint for years.

Flash Jacks, loved that place for bootleg live albums and t-shirts.

I thought the strip club upstairs was the Bermuda Tavern.
Bermuda Tavern was further north on Yonge St., closer to Gerrard.

Gimlets, a small strip joint on Victoria south of St Mike's hospital on east side.
IIRC the movie Flash Dance was based on it.

I loved the delivery guys car with that huge ugly sign on it.

best damn eggroll in the city, I’ll give you that
There was a place in Hamilton my girlfriend at the time kept raving about. I never used to go to Hamilton, but because of her I wound up doing so. Got the giant eggroll. She wasn't lying. It was great. $5.00 if I remember right. Meal unto itself.

Moe Retro South Etobicoke than downtown-
Sizzlin Jacks.

A 24 hour diner type place that was on the Queensway between Islington and Kipling as I recall.
Used to be able to go in like 1am and either order breakfast, or dinner.

We use to do evening live theatre projects while also juggling day jobs and so the at home cupboard would run bareish when a show opened.
And not unusual for theatre sorts to eat dinner after the show and post show schmoozing.

In the late 80's early 90's it was surrounded by factories and distribution yards. So people coming and going all the time with shift work.

Now condos are encroaching on the area and good old Sizzlin Jacks is no more.

Very close to House of Lancaster 1. They must have gotten a lot of late night business from there.

For some reason that made me think of Ed the sock. I used to love the intro to his show cause it showed Toronto streets at night and a shot of a street cleaner. I don't know why but I always liked that intro.

Could only find later seasons/episodes with new intro:

Found a clip with the original intro.

Constellation Hotel pool. Brunch and a swim. You could go under the flap and be outside in the winter.

Kellys - Ontario Place. Was a busboy one summer in the early 1980s. One couple was stealing small glasses(like shot glasses) and the waiter was at their table asking for them back.

I was a little spunky1 at the time ,Early to mid 80’s ?I recall shopping trips to the Eaton Center and area seeing these Toronto characters along Yonge Street almost every time……

Guy selling his self published books around Yonge/Wellsey
Guy and his sunglass wearing dog just hanging out around Yonge/Dundas
Ben Kerr @ Yonge/ Bloor
For a while there was a old man with a monkey and a old style crank organ he’d play , then the monkey was trained grab money from the people’s hands.
