Let's tackle these statements in order.

I just don’t get the hype. That conveys a total lack of understanding why people would be motivated to make an effort to witness this event. I am simply describing what the hype is about so that ignorance of the event doesn't cloud you reasons for not participating. For the first and only time in our lifetime, the sun will disappear in the daytime sky. If you are there, you will see various special effects as this event occurs. At 3 pm in the afternoon, it will be dark and you will see stars. An earie calm as you feel the chill of a slight temperature shift in the night around you. You are in the middle of an event that probably launch many religions among confused past generations. These aren't photographs - you are living the experience. So hopefully you cannot use your lack of understanding as an excuse for not participating. You may have an excuse ex: work, afraid of the dark/zombies, etc for not participating but ignorance should not be one of them. Also finding the event super boring is a valid excuse. You would not be alone. 99.9% of the animal kingdom share your perspective.

Why are you so seemingly upset with my choice? There was a thick condescending tone to your comment suggesting you were observing a band of lemmings lining up for hours following medias hype over a simple event. My post was to strip away the concept that 4 hours in traffic was the only way to observe an event occurring across a significant portion of southern Ontario.
Meh, 🥱 - again I personally don’t see the hype. Neither do some other people. No big deal.

You see the hype. You are on board - great for you. I hope you have an awesome time.

Again; I don’t see why you are so upset my choice? You can have your opinion but you can’t let me have mine. Over an eclipse? Really? Something wrong there my friend. Like to the point of getting into name calling and shit. You need to get laid before you go so you don’t blow up during your 4 hrs in traffic.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

I could just repost but I'm guessing you simply would only repeat the same thing - 'I don't see the hype' I explained it to you (twice) - I didn't think the concept of a total solar eclipse could be so elusive. This may pale in relevance to your daily routine but hopefully you can grasp why some people make an effort to see it.

'you don’t blow up during your 4 hrs in traffic.' Again back to 4 hours in traffic and why bother repost if this is the only narrative you can understand? I'm not spending 4 hours in traffic - Phil isn't - so why hold on to the myth that it is necessary to see the eclipse ???

I don't care about your choice - it is just that you throw shade on people who understand the event and suggest extraordinary efforts people must perform to see it.

Ummm. I didn’t throw shade at all. You are way off base.

In fact I have said to do what you want. Enjoy the trip. Enjoy the eclipse. I have said these things because I don’t care what you and others do and if you find it to be an experience, then great. I don’t see it personally myself. But you do. Wonderful.

WTF more should I be saying to make that point clear? Like seriously? Learn to read. 🙄

You see the hype. You are on board - great for you. I hope you have an awesome time.
I have nothing against those going - do you.

I don’t get the hype. Period. I’m not the only one. Someone else called you suckers for it but you are coming after me for saying enjoy yourself but I’ll pass????? Something is wrong there LOL.

But I’m done. You think it is a great thing. I don’t. Move on. I am.

There’s another celestial event happening with eclipse, most of the planets are lined up across the sky, along with a comet. With the darken eclipse sky, this event should be visible with the naked eye.

First time I've heard about this. I'd be very cautious about doing this with no eye protection during a solar eclipse. (Sadly) I know some will but I'm not willing to sacrifice my vision to possibly seeing the planets line up.

Now that is an idea for sure!!!!

I already tried that. nobody is in the water yet.

I even looked into chartering one of the big tour boats and trying my hand at running an event! 250 ppl partying 10 miles out into Lake Ontario!

None of the operators are ready yet. not even for 2x the rate because they haven't hired seasonal crew yet.

If i had have thought of it a year ago I would have booked all the big charter boats and made sure they could get shipshape and crewed up and sold tickets1 Seriously!

One of my consulting clients made lots of $$ organizing and running small local music festivals in RV parks around the US. Was his side gig. He's a bigshot in the mid-size concert promotion biz these days. Actually, a former Massage Parlour owner I know did the same with doing small time concerts and did ok. Bigger risk in Ontario becuse there are fewer possible concert goers etc etc

Me too but I don't think anyone said anything about having to look directly at the sun.

Retinal damage occurs when you look almost directly at the sun when it is high in the sky. Looking up to the sky at a bird or plane or looking at the sunset is the same.

There are no new magic death rays produced when the 🎶 moon hits the sun 🎶 in the sky... 🎶like a big pizza pie... that's amore!🎶

But I don't know anything about or how close that other formation is going to the sun. Of course if it is too closely aligned then don't look that way .

I am riding a donkey on the 401 right now.

No one has bothered me so far. I figure it's better to go on a donkey then risk having busses and trains sell out.

My donkey is friendly.

Have you ridden a donkey from Toronto to Montreal ?

Hee haw.

Weather is looking like a mix of sun and clouds for Golden horseshoe and Niagara area.
I think I'm gonna go to Burlington and take a pass on the Falls

You were perfectly safe during totality and you wouldn't have been able to see the planets until totality.
